For never having thrown anything! Whitney you did an incredible job! I am a potter, and have been throwing for years. You were able to center the clay and open it up very well... something that may help. Once you open up your pot or bowl, bring your speed to about half, it helps you keep better control. Another thing that can help, if you are making cups or vases ( more narrow vessels) when you are pulling, try bringing the pulls more inward. To once you do one pull, it should look like a volcano. You can shape your vessel however you want after. It is harder to bring the walls in, than it it to push them out... but almost every potter throws with a different style or method, something that works for one person may not work for another... I love pottery and I get suuuper excited when I see other people showing interest in it! Keep at it, it is so much fun and I believe there is something in it for everyone!
