Yet this NEVER came to pass,and today,not ONE casino,or casino-operated hotel stands south of Jefferson!! I used to party down there OFTEN,while not being a disturbance to employees in the Central Business District!! Damn a close angle;I stood less than 300 feet from the FRONT door when it came crashing down,as I'd SET at least 200 pounds of explosives into its' support beams,and was THE last person to ever walk inside this iconic structure!! I tried to outrun the huge dust cloud ROCKETING through downtown,but realized it was a futile effort,then braced myself,and let the cloud WHOOSH right over me!! And no,the People Mover wasn't shut down because of the building falling ON it,as it completely MISSED the track upon implosion,leaving a 200 foot pile of rubble looming over the track for a month,and every so often,a big chunk of debris tumbled off of this pile pile,onto the track,causing a disruption in service!! Trust me,I lost 20 bucks to a guy from the demolition company out of Pittsburgh,when he'd assured me the building would fall STRAIGHT-down,not even scratching your little monorail,and I told him:"Impossible."then he replied:"I got twenty bucks that says it won't even nick that monorail track!!! While I shoveled dust off of Library and Woodward streets,he approached me with:"I think you owe me a little something Tucker." On the office floors of this building,I found mint-condition"Yellow Pages" from 1947,1950 and 1975!! Never occurred to me to take them home with me!!
