I want to make some resist masks prior to electroplating for watch dials. I plan on painting a 29mm brass disc in black paint, then using a laser to selectively remove paint. Anywhere black paint is left is what wont get electroplated. Do you think this laser would work for making watch dials given text on the dial is usually pretty small with the smallest being .4mm (just a few letters only) and then the next smallest being maybe 1 mm.

Wow what a cool project your working on and the JL4 only lasers wood and carbon fibers like plastic. So I don’t recommend this model to do your brass project.

@@rockinprintz Id just be burning off the paint. No engraving of metal if that matters.

How small of text could this laser write. Some text on my dials is just .4mm -ish in height.

@@chrome72 I wasn’t sure myself on your question since I haven’t yet tried to write the smallest lettering but I found my instructions and it said The Wainlux JL4 uses a laser dot of 7W that is powerful enough to cut through a 3mm board in only one pass.Maximum engraving area of up to 140 * 130mm. It didn’t really specify.
