A note for the future if you wanna try this again; carbon fiber doesn’t have substantial stiffness by itself, it’s the resin that’s super rigid. If you could find an alternative option for the bonding resin, something softer and more flexible while still being durable, you could make the entire shield from carbon fiber with that alternative resin

This is just as impressive as JLaser's more technical builds, IMO. His disciplined approach to the physics, not leaning on electronics for any part of this, is extremely impressive. It would be too easy to slap some swiss cheese on a drone and say "the movie thing flies, and mine does too. They're the same!", but JLaser actually made something that acts just like the shield on screen. And he did it by getting to the root of the physics. Top tier stuff!

The "Captain America is just a geometry whiz who can calculate angles perfectly in a split-second" explanation is pretty much spot-on correct. It's mentioned in the movies (and the comics) that the Super-Soldier Serum basically made Cap into what Steve Rogers imagined the perfect soldier to be. So his grasp of tactics and strategy, his reaction time, and his awareness of his environment are enhanced every bit as much as his muscles, skeleton, and metabolism. You can see the seed of what the Serum enhances already present in Steve, though: in the scene where everyone else tries to scramble up the flagpole to grab the flag (getting a ride instead of a hike back to base as a reward), Steve susses out that he can just remove the lynch pin and the pole will fall over, allowing him to pick the flag up off the ground. So the basic ability to figure out efficient tactics and calculate angles on the fly was there, the Serum just cranked it up to 11.

I have two kids, both super obsessed with Marvel & one who is a HUGE Cap' fan. Both have watched your video several times & would absolutely love it if a product like this were on the market. Also, I appreciate your adding actual scientific concepts into your builds. It's very cool to see some of the trial and error, and as a Mom I love that my kids are seeing you work through ideas with trial and error. Thanks!

The editing in this video has improved tenfold. Just the interludes of technical and scientific information accompanied by visually interesting and informative footage alone really stitches the video together. It feels much more professional and less of a kid in his garage with an iPhone. I also enjoy being brought along for iteration process. Be proud of this one. I can truly see the growth in your video making journey. Keep it up bud!

That might also work in the mcu, Erskine said the serum amplifies all aspects of a person, including mental. If cap was good at maths before the serum, he wouldve been brilliant after.

If I’m not mistaken, the reason the shield moves the way it does is due to cap’s enhanced perception from the super soldier syrum. He basically calculates the trajectory super fast.
@SpeziFischDE3 жыл бұрын
As far as I know, this is the reason, the producers gave some time ago. But it does not work anymore, because Falcon does not have the serum and still can throw the shield like Cap.
