This channel is so helpful in so many ways, learning a bit of Japanese without feeling intimidated by all Japanese program, making living in Japan more easily by understanding how to cope with the possible problems, etc. thank you so much!

I find this channel is somewhat inefficient for learning Japanese since it has so much English. However, hearing a near-native male American accent transition into what sounds to my ear like a native Japanese accent is incredibly useful. The clear shift in the voice is something that I have struggled with, and examples of that are very valuable.

I mean, if this is the only resource you're using then yeah. But I like some materials that might explain some contexts and vocabulary which this is useful for. If I want pure listening practice i go somewhere else.

Agreed. Some of the worst things you can do as a language teacher is hide the words and not repeat them. I know you, the viewer, are supposed to pause and do it but if some KZfaqrs teaching ‘Blender 3D’ have figured it out I think it’s willfull disinterest from NHK hahaa!

It would be so much better to have Japanese subtitles as well as English during the news segment. They could even highlight the key words.

Unfortunately, this channel in the UK needs an Internet connected TV.

I curious about the meaning of 今までで I know first part means until now, so I dont get the last particle, 「今まで」can be followed by a で particle?

I think it’s similar to the superlative grammar. For example you’d say 1年で8月がいちばん暑いです。In this sentence, で indicates the scope/range. For 今まで I think we can see it as some kinda ‘noun’ so it goes with で to indicate the scope/range of the years being compared.

まで is a word that means "until" and で is a particle that expresses a range. Together with 今 they mean "within the time up to now" (or, more idiomatically, "until now"). The surface similarity of the two で should not be confusing, in the same way that in the sentence "We're going to the party tomorrow together" the three "to" words are not identical (even though historically the "to" of "tomorrow" and "together" was the preposition "to"). It's like seeing the (somewhat contrived) phrase "本屋やパン屋や山小屋、やばい!" - lots of や, but doing different things.
