I know that this might be a weird thing to say, but if you listened to this song without watching this video or without knowing who was behind it, you would probably assume it's from a black artist in the 90s/2000s (or even the 80s) wouldn't you lol. That time was golden, and I'm so glad that it still gets replicated to this day. It's a blessing for people like me who were born in 2007 and never got to experience this type of music in its prime. Its essence is still carried into present day. Black people's impact is insurmountable. Oh and this song is too sublime for its own good

This song gives me the vision of a man grappling with the awareness that he truly has the free will to be more than his past, including his past hurts and experiences in general. And he's negotiating with himself - but also sometimes an external person like a therapist - to stop trying changing because he is afraid of to face the fact that he can at all. And the part that is negotiating with himself is life the devil, becoming a vistage of fear(or devil) as a means of keeping him as he is, and to compete with the fear required of making change or changes. This is illustrated as the individual level, as a man struggling to improve himself, but also as a global level of how mankind on the global scale is struggling with overcoming the cosmic or collective devil. In most cases, saying time is the second hand of love, and why is he in a rush, would be an empowering way of saying slow down change is incremental, but at the end of the song it reads like a manipulation from a devil to enable the singer to stay as they are because they have all of the time in the world to change thereby staling and staying as they are.
