I accept that the little women grow up in all different ways as they all have different desires and ambitions, so it makes sense for Jo becoming a famous writer and find her true love, for Meg to follow her heart and have a family, for Amy to marry the man she had always loved.
But, still, in all this perfect sense Joe&Laurie don't end up together. I blame the wrong timing of course, but I'm sure there would have been a way for them to end up together and still realize themselves as adults. I'm sorry to say this, because I like the woman Amy has become, but I just can't stand her with Laurie. I refuse to believe that Jo was just Laurie's first love, I want to believe they needed to end up together. But I also believe that very often we don't end up with the perfect person for us, it's very rare to find them at the right time and space. Situations and things you can't prevent get in the way. When Laurie was ready, Jo wasn't. When Jo has thought through it (even though she never says she 'loves him'), Laurie has moved on.

the title of the video: "I miss everything" says it all. You can see the moment Jo said that to Beth, Beth knew that her beloved sister finally realized that she loves Laurie - her soulmate, and she loves Laurie as much as he loves her which was her reason for rejecting Laurie's proposal(that she doesn't think she loved him as much as he loves her which was kind of childish when she doesn't even know what real love feels like until she realized that emptiness in her soul, that loneliness in her heart left by her soulmate is what real love meant). You can see the sadness in Beth's eyes as she knew how much regret is in Jo's heart that they both knew it might be too late. I believe that Beth's deathwish and her final gift to her beloved sister is that her death might be the one last chance to bring Laurie and Jo together face to face as she knew Jo is too proud to go after Laurie to confess her love and her regret in-person instead of hoping Laurie would open the letterbox to read her letter of love confession. Despite Beth's final gift for Jo it was still too little too late. No greater heartbreak than two soulmates did not end up spend the rest of their life together! Laurie should marry the only woman who calls him Teddy and Jo should be with her soulmate who sees her for who she is and loves her flaws her messiness as much as her greatness.

Dating was different back then. If you were courting someone it was understood you were going to marry them. Your reputation could be tarnished. People forget Amy risked everything for Laurie by turning Fred down. That’s why she looks scared when she finds out Laurie left. If Laurie hadn’t proposed or she misjudged his feelings her prospects would have diminished. The Marches were middle class not rich so Amy wasn’t considered a “prize”. Also I think the expectations Jo would have had to comply with marrying someone rich like Laurie was too much and overwhelming. She would have been expected to act, dress, and talk a certain way. Women were already surpressed during that time not to mention there was no way to express or figure out her feelings for him at her own pace.

She was too blinded by what society taught her a marriage should be and caught up in her own ways against marriage (rightfully so bc it sucked for women back then) ,that she rejected any feels for him or ideas of marriage because it when against her beliefs and everything she stood for. In a way I can relate and I’m sad to see this happen to. They were in love with each other but admitted it at different times. 💔

I've been watching edits of these two ever since I saw the movie. Jo is so relatable and it pains me that they didn't end up together. I don't know why but I would've been okay with Laurie and Jo not being together. I dislike him with Amy.

i dont know why i bring myself to watch edits like this when it just makes me cry!! lovely edit, i was in tears not even in a minute in! i just wish jo and laurie had ended up together.. I understand why she didn't feel the need to be in a relationship because of how independent she was when she was younger, but I can only dream that they would've been endgame LOL

ahhh this is exactly what i needed after watching this movie hun. it captures all of their scenes, all of their feelings perfectly. i love how you included all of their little moments and parallels, i think that the hug after she cuts her hair might be the most beautiful thing on this planet aaaa. and about what you said in desc, i know jo's feelings were complicated but i really think they could've been happy if the timing was right yes. and i hate how they made it seem like his feelings were platonic just because she was his first love... first love doesn't equal non-romantic love that can't be something serious XD i think he moved on yes, he needed to because it was clear it was killing him, but his feelings were very much romantic and it still shows in the way he was asking "can somebody tell me who this is" .... anyways thank youuu for this perfect edit, it makes my heart happy hahah 💕💕

I've never understood why these two didn't end up together and Laurie got married with Amy after all!!!Like their chemistry was out of this world!!! 😥 I loved them in all versions!!!They were fantastic and although I haven't watch this movie YET I am so ready my heart to break into pieces. Such a stunning video my dear Anna. The song is UNBELIEVABLE and the whole editing so capturing!! 💖😘

Sono 43 anni che piango ad ogni rifiuto di Jo nei confronti di Laurie... non ho niente contro Amy (più o meno...) ma il rapporto fra Jo e Laurie domina "Little women" e per quanto possa sembrare palese dallo scritto che Jo non abbia mai amato Laurie, c'è sempre qualcosa che mi fa credere che non è così... Quando lei dice "Non posso. Ci ho provato..." verrebbe da chiedersi "Ci ha provato? Quando e perché se lui non si era ancora dichiarato? Ci ha provato a priori? Allora provava qualcosa?" Al di là di tutto, il loro rapporto è forte, è speciale e per l'epoca era un qualcosa di nuovo e fresco nella letteratura... un rapporto che sembra sempre essere nel mezzo... un po' più che amicizia, un po' meno che amore Resta comunque dal punto di vista sentimentale (anche senza finire insieme) una delle coppie più romantiche della letteratura e del cinema... Li volevo insieme quando ero piccolo e guardavo il cartone animato (che terminava con il ritorno del papà a casa ), quando ho visto il film del 1949 (e lì ho appreso il danno!! Trauma mortale: Jo rifiuta Laurie e Beth muore... Perché non avevo ancora letto Piccole donne crescono... )... e poi gli altri film... Il cinema ha voluto indorarci la pillola dando a Jo dei Bhaer più "appetibili" come Brazzi, Byrne, Garrell... Ma Jo e Laurie restano anime gemelle pur sposati con altre persone... Ebbene sì! Anche noi uomini siamo romantici e ci affezioniamo ai personaggi... Anche se sono affezionatissimo alla coppia Allyson/Lawford trovo la coppia Ronan/Chalamet perfetta per interpretare i due giovani protagonisti di quello che rimane (nonostante l'amaro in bocca per questa coppia sfumata e per la morte della dolcissima Beth) un capolavoro della letteratura mondiale! Bellissimo video!! Jo&Laurie forever

Ive watched other versions of little women and it felt ok to me then than laurie and jo didnt end up together. But with this version, i cant accept that they did not end up together. Maybe because of the chemistry between timothee and soarsie (dont know the spelling). I want them to end up together so badly. Hopefully in their next movie?

he married amy to be in jo's life even if he had to just watch her life from a distance. it was before he asked her to be friends. he thought he lost her after his confession. he was so surprised when she jumped into his arms. he really loved her. she loved him too. it was just hard for her to admit it on time. if there was a sequel jo and laurie would end up together. they are soulmates.

I understand why everybody wants Jo & Laurie together because they have such chemistry. I get it, but what about Amy. She has feelings too. She "Spent all her life loving Laurie" and had to play second fiddle to Jo. How many of us have felt like that when we have strong feelings for someone, only for that person to have feelings for someone else. It's a punch to the gut and it hurts. I am happy Amy got to marry her true love, Laurie.

I wrote that in db. I'm happy for Amy too, I'm happy that she realizes herself and marry the man she had always wanted to marry. It's just a personal preference, I prefer Jo/Laurie relationship because I like their dynamics, I can relate to them more. It's just a preference, like fo every other fandom :)

To me, I always imagine Laurie and Jo together because its Jo who really tied him to the family. She's the one who met him first, spent all of her time with him, etc. For me to really push for Amy and Laurie, you would have to omit Jo altogether.

These 2 were not meant for each other!!! yes, I agree they were soulmates but not in a lovers type of way in a friendship way. Amy admired Laurie her entire life and then she grew up and moved on, but Laurie came to her. Laurie realized that he had matured and that Amy was the better fit for him. And in the end, they really did love each other. I am sorry but I will always be an Amy and Laurie shipper.

I loved their friendship and I understood that they were not meant to be. Amy and Laurie made more sense to me, and I think Laurie’s line “I gave up everything you didn’t like” when he was trying to convince her to love him solidifies it for me. They have a beautiful friendship and he felt he had to change for her to love him. Whereas, with Amy he was loved as he was, and she pushed him to be his best self. Same with Jo and the professor.
