This is Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade" in a Cape Verde Style. Filmed at the Steinway & Sons Factory New York with Joachim Horsley on piano and special guest Charlie Siem on violin.

With each of your videos I am wondering why your channel doesn't have a million subscribers yet. The music you produce is really unique. I've had many a night when I've had Scheherazade playing on the stereo, which is a work of music I've always loved... I love this fresh take on it, and so brilliantly done and well produced, as are the other of your videos I've watched/listened to. This was absolutely beautiful! You both are such wonderful musicians, and I really enjoyed listening to this. 😊 I feel like, at least compared to Beethoven in Havana, that it was a little more difficult to pick out the themes from Scheherazade that you were using as inspiration towards the end of the arrangement, but that's probably just me. Haha it still was an amazing arrangement and performance, kudos to both of you! 😄

How do you pick the songs to play in these ways? I'd guess divine inspiration.

MarimBoyWonder haha, I wish! It's very hard to find the right pieces to blend with afro-Caribbean styles. Generally, Romantic 19th century symphonic pieces seem to be the most interesting choices for this series. But every piece has to have a reason to be arranged, I think. As if there's something to say by doing it.

John Triplett Hi John, thank you!! There was a rights issue with Day Tripper Mozambique, unfortunately. But, I'm hoping there will be a way to include it in this project down the road.

Root Beer They were very kind to let us use the space, and have been incredibly supportive of the whole Via Havana project- I'm so grateful for my friendship with Steinway.
