I have loved and followed Joan's music since I was 15 years old. I am now 63 and last saw here in concert a few years ago in Philadelphia. She still makes beautiful music and I can tell she is very comfortable on stage. What a lovely person. Thank you, Joan

For some reason, for which I have no explanation, I decided to browse a music site for Joan Baez. I haven't listened to her for many years but that voice took me back to places long ago, happy places where everything was great and I didn't have a care in the world. Now I have a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye remembering those who are no longer with me but I can recall them all with that beautiful Baez voice.

Thanks for posting this...I remember as a 9-year-old boy, my mom took me to a Joan Baez concert at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, a lovely outdoor venue in the hills. It was 1979, I think. My mom feared I would be squirming, but I was captivated, actually kind of stunned. Joan came out with only her guitar, and she had us all in the palm of her hand. We had good seats, and my mom pointed out Hollywood stars to me that I did not know (Robert Redford, etc). I have been a Joan fan ever since. My politics turned libertarian, which has a lot of that social lefty in it, but I have always been a fan and will always be. Joan is the real deal, not a pretender.

Perfect, a moving description of Joan Baez`s charisma, this more than rare human being. She has us all in the palm of her hand even now on her 78s. Because the power of her immense, deep love is timeless. If there is one word to describe this undescribable woman, this word is Love. God bless you forever, Joan Baez.

I can remember my parents who are from Jamaica playing Joan Baez songs regular back in the late 60/70s. A true intellect with her love of the Human Race, together with her beautiful vocals demonstrates how special this lady is. Joan has to be amongst the finest female vocalist's of the 20th century...

Thank you so so much artfrod, for this sharing. May we deserve joan Baez among us for the years to come. We still need the beauty, goodness, the greatness of heart and intelligence, the more then rare soul of this unique, precious human being named for a while Joan Baez. But who could perfectly be named simply LOVE. The voice to the voiceless, to the poor, to the weak, to the suffering, to the forgotten , for more than six decades. Unshakeable activism on behalf of every living being on earth. Where there is a cause there is a Baez. BUT WHOEVER TREASURES FREEDOM, LIKE A JOAN BAEZ HAS LEARN TO FLY. God bless your fight and your flight forever , dearest Joan Baez.

Her music became more beautiful and meaningful for me over the years; she started somewhere in the middle and move up the ranks closer to the top in my mind. I did not realise the music, the protests we heard of from far away, some of it only years later, came from a person of such integrity, such depth, such a beautiful soul.

Well I always knew about "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" but that was about it. Grew up in the 70's and never really heard of "Joan Baez", just that song. Fast forward to my days of heavy metal in the 80's and one of my favorite songs was "Diamonds and Rust" by Judas Priest. Years later I mellowed much and was searching for "that Dixie song" and bought Joans album. Lo and behold I heard "D & R" on it and was immediately floored by it. Don't listen to Priest's version anymore but I'm still smitten by Joan's. Only now do I know the full story behind it, and her story to fame, or being "well known". Incredible.

Nothing will be too much in retribution to a life with more than 60 years of unshakable activism, uttermost talent at the service to humankind. A more than rare heart and soul dedicated to the voiceless, to the weak, to the rejected to the persecuted, to the forgotten, and to art itself. Catlover tea4 Obama was a huge con artist. He came along right st the perfect time.White elite were looking for a black male that was light skinned and could speak well so that they could use him to rid themselves of the guilt that they had over what many generations before had done to black folks. And honestly they also used him to project a I was never racist image..A way to bail out of all white folks are hateful and racist..Obama is a very smart man and knew this.Black will never get over what was done to them.Ever.Unless a lot of white blood spills. Then maybe. If it happened to my people I would feel the same way.Might as well tell the truth.Obama probably never liked Dylan but he knows that generation does.Another way of keeping as many Democratic votes in their pocket. But a lot of folks are getting off of that plantation. Many thousands of people that voted for Obama went out and voted for Trump..Did they turn back into racists..lol..No they are waking up from their indoctrinated sleep..Last chance America.Or be Sweden\Germany

She says that fans expressed that they feel they've known her all their life, and she laughs at the irony that they don't know her at all, but I dare to differ. Through her music she, and all artists, reveal themselves, and where she has exposed realities of thought and feeling about herself, about social injustice - fans identify and relate, so goes the connection. The relationship between artist and fan IS an intimate bond. Music connects emotions.

We finally had a chance to hear Joan in person last year. Her voice is still incredible, and she continues to be true to herself. Loved that she came on stage with a "Nasty Woman" t-shirt, and her back were the "Bad Hombres." It's not often a voice this special comes along, and I was lucky a few weeks back to stumble across a sealed out of print edition of the Mobile Fidelity remaster of Diamonds and Rust. It seems to work it's way into our listening sessions more often than not.

Growing up in the '60's was amazing ... so much going on everywhere. I was and am still a huge Joan Baez fan. She never had a record out that I didn't have. The same with Buffy Saint Marie. Loved them both. I think I saw and heard Joan Baez singing on a hill at the Berkeley Campus one late afternoon/early evening ... watched her from a distance, because I was only in high school and had snuck out to Berkley With another girl I went to school with. I stood and watched this beautiful young woman with such an amazing soft and clear voice, playing her guitar. Never forgot it and that was many, many, many years ago. Ha ... I remember well the coffee houses. My hometown in Calif. had one called "The Collectors".

You did it in my father's generation during the Vietnam war when there were riots and the country was at a low point, God sent messengers like you to sing for us,I believe he will need you to answer one more call...

Joan Baez is a real treasure. Bob Dylan always said that she sang like an angel and he was right. Whether onstage with the enigmatic young Dylan or on her own, she was the queen of cool, having the longevity to go with the talent, Joan Baez take a bow!

So good to hear how Joan Baez really felt and to lay witness to a great courageous woman who did what she believed regardless of the consequence. Left me bawling for all of our losses, then and now.

The first time I saw and heard Joan Baez was somewhere in Westchester County, where at the end of the concert she signed on her sister's tummy. Second time was in Boston, where she was better known than Bob Dylan.
