One of America’s most controversial folk singers, Joan Baez, performed last night before a capacity house in Civic Theater while literature was distributed outside accusing her of Communist sympathies. Harold Keen spoke to her in her dressing room before her performance. They touched on a variety of important topics. Joan said the draft shouldn’t be cooperated with. She owned a school in Carmel Valley in Northern California called Institute for the study of nonviolence. She spoke about war, communism, and laws. She said if laws are no good, we’re the only ones who can change them. Baez was 24 years old.
