As an American I am grateful that we had people like Joan Baez to demonstrate our opposition to what was being done in our name in Vietnam.

Nice segment, we don't often hear Joan speak about music and I believe this is the first time I've heard her talk about the guitar at all. She always has much more "important" things to share. I enjoyed this a lot, thanks.

..Musician and activist ...". and composer, and poet, and painter, and ultimate muse to millions of devoted friends and commited followers all around the world for more than half a century. And a soul of rare beauty, with the power of touching and making surface whatever of goodness, of beauty , of compassionate love on us. Love and Gratitude forever, bodhisattva Joan Baez.

Honest, engaging and wise ... are we listening and taking action on the message Joan has steadfastly championed throughout her life?

It is really dificult to put in words what Joan Baez accesses on a soul, on my soul. She has the exquisit power of touching the best one whatsoever has within. I think this power is Love. She is love on action, beauty on voice, on heart, on inteligence, working for the goodness to all mankind , passionated, compassionated, relentlessly for more than sixty years. May God keep her with inspiration and all Blessings

I love this person. On 1-4 I found a book called "Daybreak" by Joan Baez and I've started reading it. In the book she talks about her mothers time in jail, it's great! I can't think of a time in my life when I didn't know her name. I guess that's one of the benefits of being the youngest in a family of Hippy folksters!

I loved Joan Baez in the early '60's when she sang beautiful English, Appalachian and Country music before her leftist, ultra-liberal politics got in the way of the music

@Hammerin' Hank Yes, here she is , talking about Love and brotherhood and peace on her 25s, 1966 . A more than rare heart and soul speaking with crystal clear poetry . God bless you, forever ,Joan Baez. Amor e gratidão , from Brasil : “But hear me when I call to you softly through the flutes and chimes, Listen when I ask gently but hopefully That you remember, Remember That the child The baby with the halo, Who lies in the yellow hay in all the rich heavy paintings Sleeping calmly in the presence of jeweled and beweldered royalty Grew into a Young man who lived a strange and glorious life Who said once ( in that time forgotten, That faded time between the cradle and the cross) “All men are Brothers”, and another time “Thou shal not kill” And he knew that he would not, could not, For any reason Kill his brother. JOAN BAEZ, CHRISTMAS 1966.

Appalachian and country music have a deep leftist history. If anything, she has stuck steadfastly to her roots all these years.
