I think Faye Dunaway's portrayal of Joan in "Mommie Dearest" is highly dramatized, to say the least, and fictional to the point that it may have grossly misrepresented her life. Faye Dunaway's acting was outstanding, though.

It was good of her to withdraw negative comments about Elizabeth, who was one talented actress ( just watch “Whose Afraid of Virginia Woolf). That said, she did not voluntarily leave MGM. That was Louis B. Mayer’s decision. That was unfortunate, but her new studio put her in “Mildred Pierce” and she won an Academy Award for her outstanding performance. 🎬❤️🎬

A publicity Machine and fashion icon. One movie after another over fifty years. That type of continuity is very hard to top.. All the actresses had some "clinkers" along in the way... even Hepburn and Davis had some real dogs in their acting resume..

Apparently the portrayal was highly innaccurate. Just watched that movie last night...if anything Mommy Dearest was a great tragedy. Glad that the abuses were not as they were. ❤
