Job Work refers to outsourcing of manufacturing work. Basically, job work process involves giving raw material to an outside firm or person (artisan, craftsman or job worker) for applying specialized skills on it and making it into a finished product. In the whole job work process, raw material goes through multiple stages, changes its characteristics and then become a finished product.
Let us take one business example to make the concept of Job work more clear. A goldsmith gives metal such as gold to the craftsman for crafting it into an ornament (ring, necklace). So the goldsmith is giving raw material (metal) to the craftsman and getting finished product (ornaments) from him. This process is termed as Job work.
