"Explained" is a _strong_ word for this, to say the least, but I would definitely recommend this anime, it (which I assume might be what confused you the most) takes _that_ typical anime trop and actually humanizes it in a surprisingly redeeming way. I can't really explain it without spoiling anything, but by all means, give this one a watch. (^ ^;)ゞ You are sure to experience _emotions_ Lol

I actually re-watched in dub for fun, and there's a lot of little stuff you appreciate, I couldn't recommend it more, dub isn't that good though, Eris' voice is kinda grating but some things are also better portrayed/translated in the dub.

@@utkarshtrichalxpearl4427 biologically speaking it's a very huge difference, the reason cousin/sibling marriage is taboo is cuz the children have a higher chance to be deformed. on each parent passes on 50% of their genes onto the children, so a cousin will have 25% of the genes of their shared grandfather, but a shared great grandfather only has 12.5% of genes with both of the grandkids, meaning that of the 12.5% they statistically share only some 8% of genes, in other words less than 2% of their total genes come from their shared great grandfather. because of that they are genetically barely more related than the average person in the same village would be and are fine to have kids together, in fact they could be less related than that if their parents and grandparent have married with people of different ethnicities. it's just socially taboo (and has only been that for like 80 years)

I don't care what I'm missing out on, what I've seen in the first 10 episodes is this fantasizing about children and even going so far as to molest them. I know he's in a childs body but he has the mind of an adult. It's way too fucked up for me to justify continuing further

It's true though, it's really easy to assume it's _just_ an anime being perverted but it depicts a story of a truly morally troubled and struggling boy very well. One would see he even makes an active effort to be better.

Agree! The way ALL the characters are properly fleshed out with reasons and motives for their actions is amazing, especially when you're juggling so many characters. The special character povs of Zenith, Eris and Roxy are all absolutely insane, with their detail of what they notice in Rudeus that he himself doesn't realise. Not to mention the worldbuilding, character driven story, action choreography and animation. Not to mention several pressing real life issues and the importance of family. Above all, it tells you that no matter who you are or what you've done, you can always start trying to be a better person from today. It won't we easy, it won't be linear, you will relapse several times, you will frustrate those who want to see you succeed, but you WILL BE BETTER.
