I’ve worked hard my whole life. Mandates saw me sacked, lost my savings then had to sell my home. Now I have full blown RA and on job seeker. I get $300 a week which I survive on by eating l meal a day. I want this pain gone and to work again, but I’m crippled by it. Not all people on the dole are ‘bludgers’.

I'm in a similar situation it's fucking horrible I've been studying finance to hopefully get me out. They don't help at all at finding work you can actually do and give you the run around constantly. Got to remember to these people's jobs rely on others being unemployed the more unemployed the agencies have to deal with the more funding they get they are incentivised to keep you in the system.

This is because the government only funds job agencies for helping people to find work. If you're working, they won't receive funds for helping you. So they need you to be unemployed. The biggest obstacle to getting jobs is Job Agencies. Profit making monsters. Bring back Job Vacancies to the Centrelink offices. The unemployed come in to there local Centrelink, that has all local jobs listed, or in a simple constantly updated online system, with the contact details of the employer and they ring up and make an appt for an interview or drop there resume in. Have one or two Centrelink staff member allocated full time at each office to help the customers. Sometimes the simplest way is the easiest way.

Don't understand why so much pressure is put on the unemployed to get a job when it's not even up to them. The decision solely rests with the employers whether someone is or isn't hired. So the only solution is to actually give unemployed people jobs. But they would rather pay job agencies to run a compliance scheme that punishes people for not following their rules. Even if the % of doll blugders went down you'll be paying the same. How like Hanson beating up the most vulnerable in the community whilst touting herself as a so called Champion of the Battler. There will always be those who will take advantage of the system but many more who are unable to maintain consistent employment for a myriad of reasons. $52 a day is hardly going to help people get back on their feet or travel for interviews etc. It’s not enough to help people keep a roof over their head or even feed themselves properly. It speaks volumes that Hanson, who is supposed to know what it is like to be a battler, has forgotten what it is like now she is a wealthy politician. Shame on her!

What is more concerning to me than dole bludgers is the financial exploitation of disabled people in the workforce. Namely the supported wage system. Entered into by companies such as coles which determines an employees percentage of worth of the minumum wage. At places like bedford and minda the exploitation is the worst. Severely disabled adult people there are paid as little as $1 an hour. They say that people enjoy it and it gives them purpose. Not all of them. My young cousin went off the rails over it actually. Hasnt worked a day in his life since his $5 an hour ride on lawnmower job at minda....lost his spirit and work ethic over that job. Who could blame him. Not the same person he once was. Also he and others made flat pack furniture for sale at bedford during 'workshop'. No money exchanged hands for their work. You know the type they sell at Ikea or fantastic furniture? Interesting. Always wondered where that crap furniture came from. And who made it. Now i know. I personally call it what it is....slave labour capitalised on by big business. These companies should be ashamed of themselves and people need to be in jail over it.

Things have changed considerably.. The 'reward" for wanting to work is to have a roof over your head, food on the table, transport and medication if you require it. No one can afford those things on a Jobseeker allowance. .. in fact a growing number of people who are in full-time employment can't afford them either! The vast majority of unemployed people would do anything to escape the useless Private Employment Agency cycle of hoops and loops to nowhere. These agencies do very little to help the unemployed,, but they do provide an easy income stream of tax-payer's money to flow into the coffers of these privately owned employment rort factories.
