I am 72 and rode hunters back in the day. Brody is a perfect example of a dream-heart horse! I once had one named Pete (Call a Cab.) You never forget when you are fortunate to have one of these. I love watching him and remembering my days in the saddle. You're great, too, Justine! Thanks for keeping up with your videos for all of us fans.

Justine, when you were jumping with Simon, I didn’t recognize you! You looked like a 20 year old!!! And a skinny one at that! Got to love Simon and how much he helped you!! Honestly Justine, this awareness now will make such a big difference in your riding and scores and placings. You looked completely fab over the drop into the water, over and over. I was gobsmacked. I love you and your riding and Brody and how he’s progressing is huge. Well done!

Hi Justine -- I just finished watching you and Brody jump fences in the slop -- got a little worried about you guys. Am I the only one who felt like the course went on forever? I began to wonder if you had combined the filming of two separate rounds. I'll be watching your XC next. I take it that's where you had some challenges? Brody looks fantastic. Love him. BTW -- I'll be 74 this month -- and -- like one of your other commenters -- rode my hunter back in the day. I look back now and appreciate what a wonderful horse he was. I enjoy watching you and Brody so much! Thank you for sharing! JV Okay -- I just watched the XC. Please stop beating yourself up, Justine -- You guys did great. JV

Another great event. Brody certainly is so honest and will jump anything you point him at. As you say, you are kicking yourself, but we all make mistakes and we all learn from them. That start time was ridiculous! Good job it was a fairly 'open' course coz if there was any wooded areas it would have been positively dangerous. Yes, Brody is gorgeous. Could watch him all day. Well done.

What a bummer!! The Xcountry fences did look meaty and I see what you mean about the skinnies!!! Plus the ground did look quite churned up in places on the course. But Justine, there is no point in beating yourself up. Shit happens and to be fair he jumped a blinder all round. He seemed totally unfazed by anything. So well done. The dressage looked great, I don’t know why but I didn’t hear his score. And as for the show jumping, the ground was just vile and you certainly had to earn your stripes there. Overall, just marvellously well completed on unpleasant ground and so late in the day. Onwards 😃

I think you did really well!! It was so windy and cold and sticky ground. I thought it was more like you were in a lesson and you just misjudged it the first time round, your trainer (your brain) said ‘do you know what you did wrong there? Yep, now go ahead and correct it.’ And you did! Brody didn’t seem to think anything of it, just kept doing his best as usual. It’s great that you were given this lesson now, and with a very safe refusal, so you can work on it at home. I so enjoy these vlogs! You’re fantastic. ❤

There were so many more positives than negatives in this vlog and honestly that minor runout might even be a positive too because it's inspired you to take a couple of lessons with Simon and only good will come from that. You ate up the showjumping on really chewed up footing and the cross country was beautiful other than that one little misunderstanding. That's all it was and I thought you handled it very well, in just re-presenting with no fuss. He's such a good boy, with such a sweet, amazing personality and I'm so glad you didn't get after him. I thought this was pretty great over all and I'm excited for future vlogs (I'm such a nerd!).

Bless you, I hope you feel a bit better now Justine, I hate how things play over and over when we make a mistake, but I'm not being funny, Brody is such a genuine gentleman that he hasn't for one moment thought about it and went straight on to try and understand what you were asking.... boy, that lads a keeper!! He will get you out of trouble when he fits those big boy pants!! Listen, you brought your ponio & yourself home safe. That's what matters first and foremost, and then you were very kind in giving us an insight to your lesson and areas of improvement needed.... I can guarantee that most of us allow the lower leg to slip over big jumps lol... that's what the neck straps for I can hear my instructor screaming at me as she sees me bottling it 😂😂😂 Body is in great shape and you genuinely make riding him look easy....better to make the little mis judgements at the beginning of your Step Up To Novice than to be making them at Badminton!!! Plus no one realises how quick you have to make decisions, it's not as easy as you always make it look...stay safe out there ❤🎉❤

Wonderful to have analysed so deeply what went wrong, It's not that bad really, a small natural mistake, Not as if Brody did anything intentional, his heart is always bold and straight, but great to listen to your views and Charlie's, i think that's it, just collapsing in the drop into water and loss of connection Line and engagement, expecting too much from Novice Brody, thats what eventing is all about questioning yourself and learning from it that's why its such a great sport, horses show you where to grow.. Message for Charlie, Dressage dates back to classical Greek horsemanship and the military who trained their horses to perform movements intended to evade or attack the enemy whilst in battle. The earliest work on training horses was written by Xenophon, a Greek Military Commander born around 430 BC. Dressage continued to be developed by the military who studied horsemanship as part of their military training and during the Renaissance European aristocrats displayed highly trained horses in equestrian pageants. The great European riding masters of the time developed a training system and the Imperial Spanish Riding School of Vienna was established in 1572 and all dressage training today is based around their principles. it has NOTHING to do with plowing Horses, and you do not do half-pass at Novice level. Dressage comes from the french word Dresse which means to train.

Brody was probably thinking in the start box 'what the heck woman, it's past my supper time'. Then on that skinny 'oh, was i meant to jump that? Well, let's have another go then.' He is such a dear boy, just learning as he goes. Reminds me of our boys when they were teenagers - big, willing, strong, no clue. Had to be taught 'do it this way' several times. Did Charlie get the latch sorted on the horse box? Will there be a video of Simon's lesson?

I think you're being a bit too hard on yourself; it was sticky ground, he's usually so honest that you get fooled thinking he's more experienced, and as you said that it was a while since you competed at Novice level. Most importantly, you immediately took steps to solve the gap with Simon, who always has good advice to share! Yes, it sucked but he got another event under his girth
