@@nilskp I'm now 5 years clean and will never touch heroin again!!! I'm finally out of the clear but the first couple years sucked. You're physically sick only for a couple weeks but it probably took 2 years to get my mind right. After doing so much heroin throughout my 20s it changed my body physically but mostly mentally. I had short intense battles with heavy depression that would wash over me like a tidal wave and I could actually feel it coming on. I would lose all sense of basic psychological functioning and would have zero emotions of any kind to the point of not even being able to have a meaningful conversation with my wife for about 3 days and it would dissappear just as fast. It felt like I was standing outside my own body for a couple days. That happened probably 10 times in the first 2 years and terrified me every single time because I was conscious of what was happening and thought if this is how I will feel forever now there's no way I could survive. I relapsed about 4 times in the first 6 months but made sure it was just a one off and I wouldn't fall all the way down the hill. The worst thing about rehab is they pretty don't acknowledge relapse because they're afraid it will get it in people's minds. I now help about 20 people I know on a regular basis but I've also had 12 friends die in the 5 years I've been clean. I went to 2 funerals in one day two times!!! My town only has 4500 people.

@@uuujonlol583 Yup the acronym is my own, I come up with to increase the chance of using the strategies in the moment .. but the strategies contained is already known to navy seals as the big 4 of mental toughness. Dr. Alia is very cool scientist, I use her definition of mindset to question my own mindset .. good for you adopting & using the science, best of luck.

Exactly the same. Just before Akira released this video, I used "Good" as a mantra. I'd say it probably 75-100 times a day, reminding me to be a good person and see others as a good person. Then Akira's video comes out. The wave of meaning is just so high right now.

@Akira The Don My family was just in major car accident involving an 18 wheeler and my car got totaled half way across the country while I was driving. Everyone survived with minimal injuries and my aunt lived close enough for us to retreat to her house to figure out how to get home. I was having a really hard time processing it and listening to song helped immensely. The line about saying good meaning that your still alive really reminded me of how much worse it could have gone. Thank you for helping with that. It's good because I'll be a better driver for it and I won't get into a worse accident that might have happened otherwise. Just wanted to share.

I found out the other day that my sister got an autoimmune disorder from our run-in at the San Fransico Zoo. She has to take pills now. But after listening to this song I really resonate with Jocko about seeing the GOOD in all things. At least it will teach her discipline and give her a solid routine. She eats a lot less now too, more for me!

I am trying this as a new lifestyle. It is very hard to do with history of depression and being overall stressed and overworked. But it is already making me more resistant to criticism and negativity from other people. I am also trying to teach this to my students. T H A N K Y O U for spreading the message to the world!

I hope you're doing well. I'm also listenting to this and aiming to be better. So far, I've been doing my workouts and I've stayed away from the drugs, I dont even feel the need for them anymore. Stay strong my man.
