In this special episode, we got our hands on a 2017 Alpina D3 BiTurbo Touring. Not only that, but we were also graced with the Alpina youtube sensation himself, Joe Achilles.

It's a wolf in sheep's clothing and also ticks a lot of other boxes! It has a boot big enough for a family driving holiday, it's got the power to keep up with a BMW E60 M5 and somehow still achieves 60mpg while doing it.
We review some of the diesel D3 features and specs and also put it through its paces on a few 0-100kmh acceleration runs. Now we need to find a B3 to do the same in :)

I just love this car. I am driving it it since 1 year. 😃 My gas consumption is exactly 10l/100 km which is a sensation as I am really pushing this car all the time. Driving a B3 you would spent most of the time at the gas station. So this is one big advantage of the D3 against the B3.

Interesting that this 2017 is build number 203 and my 2016 Touring is number 242...maybe it was held back as its a demo car.

This actually sounded angry. Never heard a diesel like it. The cameras do it no justice. But blasting through tunnels it was insane.

0-60 is an awful performance metric for diesels, it would punch much higher if it was a 30-70 pull in 1 gear

So do I state what I think is the obvious? All the testing figures and talk you showed were for 0-100k which isn't 0-60. It's 0-62.1. It may sound like quibbles but at that level it's around 0.2 seconds more. Depending on gearing too, another couple of tenths can be deducted for gear change in some situations. (Had a bike that would hit the rev limiter in 1st at 98kph. So to do 100kph required a gear shift but to get to 60mph could be done in 1st gear.) Wouldn't think it worth a comment but given the name of the channel and this vid ffs it's a hilarious blunder.

Its a nice car but not that quick, my 335d remapped is granted not as nice but is alot quicker.

Probably slightly slower, this is based on a 335d with slight changes made to the turbo/cooling to make extra power, these remap to 390hp where as your 335d would be down about 30hp and probably heavier too due to more features in the cabin

60 mpg while doing a test??? hah what a bullshit, yes, maybe in your wet dreams... I have similar engine in my bmw and you can achieve max 45-50mpg with economical drive 80-100km/h without using the power...
