No need for Joe to speed up near the end, anyone can do that doesn't add anything to his playing.🌏

@@tonymccann8853 Alright Tony, we get the picture. Most people here don't think he's showboating.

I think that was Michael Mulcahy in the background, he is another great musician as are his family ,not sure if the young girls are the Mulcahy sisters who went on to be brilliant musicians,
@tonymccann88534 жыл бұрын
Yes that's Mick Mulcahy who's family are excellent musicians.🌍

Joe's bit of impishness is great but still it did not phase piper Cooney who stay with him all the way on the great reel The Foxhunters
@tonymccann88533 жыл бұрын
Yes I always enjoyed Joe's style of playing over the years. But this speeding up in a set of reels is only show boating doesn't enchant Joe's music any, theres lots of good and excellent box players out there now equally as good a master as Joe.🌏
@DeeJayCoolio3 жыл бұрын
He wasn't showboating, he was having fun. Can you not tell by all the massive smiles and laughter from everyone?
@tonymccann88533 жыл бұрын
@@DeeJayCoolio I wouldn't be looking forward to a session of traditional music played at that speed losing all feeling for the tunes, playing the tunes foot to the board wouldn't impress me no matter who was playing.🌏
@DeeJayCoolio3 жыл бұрын
@@tonymccann8853 I think very few musicians would try to play around with tempo as Joe does here. The crowd's reaction shows it was received well here, but not many would get away with it I'd say.

Ina Stop saying this hurtful stuff everywhere. Nobody today should be concerned about ethnicity so much, it’s all old malarky from the 19th century. The man was born in Ireland, and that makes the man Irish. My grandfather was a Finnish man but that never stopped me from playing. If you love the music it doesn’t matter where you’re from. Have a good day.

It's Norman-French - 'De Burgh'. It became De Burca in Irish and Burke in English. They became powerful Barons in Connacht after the Norman invasion (by invitation of Diarmuid Mac Murragh) of Ireland 1169. The Burkes (and all the Norman Barons) intermarried with the Irish and adopted Irish culture and language much to the chagrin of successive English monarchs.
