John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote this song. The Beatles recorded it a year earlier, but never released it as a single. The Beatles were so impressed with Cocker's version of this that they sent him a telegram of congratulations and placed an ad in the music papers praising it. This was recorded in 3/4 time - a waltz. The Beatles original version was in traditional 4/4 time.

one of the best performances of Joe's epic Beatles cover, I bought the vinyl 45 when it came out, still love it & spin it often. Joe Cocker makes some songs he covers, his in someway. I saw him a few times at festivals, here in Britain. Their performance was always superb.

Yesterday I saw a presentation from someone who was a young policeman there at Woodstock 69 (just being a policeman, he was only there to take care of the traffic) and he loved the mentality of all the young people there being helpful and peaceful. He didn't even mind the cannabis. He just wanted to help out wherever he could. He said: "With A little Help From My Friends" really describes the atmosphere there.

I grew up with Joe Cocker's music. He was an English singer known for his gritty, bluesy voice & dynamic stage performances that featured expressive body movements. He recorded a few Beatles' songs "With A Little Help From My Friends", "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" & "Something". Other hits were "Up Where We Belong" (a duet with Jennifer Warnes), "Delta Lady", "Darling Be Home Soon", "Cry Me A River", "Feelin' Alright", "The Letter", "You Are So Beautiful" etc.

Sarah If you check out any of the above, then most will be found on "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" tour movie. This is where you'll also find the most brilliant Leon Russell leading the musicians through a feast of Joe Cocker songs. This is one of my all time favourite live recordings but watching the clips is well worth it.

It was certified gold in the United States and peaked at number 35 on the Billboard 200 Suggestion some other successful musicians from Woodstock 1969. Joni Mitchell, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Santana, The Band, Sly & the Family Stone, Credeence Clearwater Revival and John Sebastian. Thanks for a great reaction video!

Bravo, Sarah, you've now heard the "Master of Space and Time" making history! 😁 The Woodstock 1969 festival was epic, happy to say I was there all 3 days. It was a different reality from the world outside! The music was inspired, and the crowd was astonishingly nice! On this track, the female backup singers were delayed in traffic, so the boys sang falsetto instead. You might know this is a classic Beatles song, but even Paul McCartney admitted he liked Joe Cocker's version! 😁😇🌹💖

I was at the famous 60's hangout Barney's Beanery some 30 years ago, turned around and just 10 feet away standing alone, there he was. Joe Cocker must have known from the expression on my face that I recognized him and smiled and waved. Warm and friendly, he was a gentleman. You must see the SNL episode he guested on where John Belushi is on stage with him doing his amazing impersonation. Dueling Joe Cockers.😅

Somewhere between 400, and 550 Thousand Souls Got Filled With Totality of Soul That Summer Day of Love. Always gets me a bit teary eyed as, and dont get me wrong as I love the Beatles, but as far as I am concerned, this song was absolutely written for Joe, and he Did so much more with it. Kudos to his band mates who filled in for the Back Up Vocalists who could not get to the show on time. You should hear this live with his Back Up Singers, but it was still History for them to make the Cut.

The ladies who were supposed to provide the backing vocals got stuck in the massive crowds at Woodstock that day and couldn't make it to the stage in time, so the guys had to stand in for them. I think they did a pretty decent job of it. There were around 500,000 people there and JO Cocker was one of the biggest attractions of the whole show. This is live rock music at its very best, long before 'Auto-Tune' was invented. Oh for the great days of live music and when flower power and the days of love and peace were at its height. God rest Joe Cocker RIP man.

The musicians singing back-up wouldn't have expected to be pressed into action for their vocals, so it was brave of them to step up after the female group scheduled to appear got held up in the traffic gridlock. Joe seemed unfazed and there was quite possibly nobody in the crowd sober enough to care.

Wasn't it cool when we could see the exact second she recognized the theme music to The Wonder Years? I saw it in her face and knew immediately. However, I was a young adult in the 60s, so I felt some sort of second-hand pride (don't know why lol) the first time I heard this was the theme music used in the 80s & 90s, Wonder Years. It was a good show. I had a Mom like the mom on that show, even blonde. lol I enjoyed this reaction. I'll check out more.

Woodstock! Joe Cocker! and a whole lot of history! There is a lot to know and great songs. Such as - Chicago was a new group and was booked to be there but their agent sent Santana for his debut in their place. While waiting for a band to get ready, Country Joe was asked to come up and do something. Someone handed him a guitar someone else got him a rope to use as a strap and it became an iconic moment in history when he did the - i-feel-like-i'm-fixin'-to-die rag - Here is a link kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mNtplpRh3dO6c30.html And its 1, 2,3 what are we fighting for? If you really want a musical education, listen to the Sgt Pepper's album by them, all the way through without stopping - very important to do that. This song comes from that. Rated by many as the greatest album ever made. I cannot disagree.
