I always liked Joe Hisaishi's musical style, to me it sounds very relaxing, even if it's meant to be dramatic or sad, etc.. It's interesting though that the part that immediately starts after the intro at around 0:28 reminds me to Nobou Uematsu's style a little bit. I love that sound! Also exactly 1 minute later at 1:28 those chords reminds me to a Chrono Trigger OST which title I can't remember at the moment. I guess the great composers influence each other too. :)

I think I prefer this speed to the original, actually. It's a little more...hm, atmospheric, perhaps. At any rate, I find it suits the personality of the piece well. I listen to this almost daily - it's just so pleasant to listen to. I suppose it's about time I learn it myself, really :P

+Ernstjan van Doorn it was the MP4 of Kawaii, but I didn't own it longer. I think there's an internal recorder, but I never used. I recorded with Cubase and used a piano sampling library for the sound.

Really awesome, but a bit stilted and slow. Otherwise this is a fantastic piece! I love playing this.

funtonite yes, I agree, some parts I played a bit slower than the version played by Mr Hisaishi himself, but it's not so easy, because there are many tempo changes in this piece. On the other side I often play my own tempo, a cover should never be simply a 1:1 copy of the original, but also an own interpretation.

+pianomusiclovr (Pianist and Composer) Well it sounds very good, and improvisation speaks for the skills of a good pianist I guess :) One of my favorite pieces you've played is A lost Child (Maigo) from Totoro. I love all Miyazaki movies and that piece together with Fantasia, Innocent, Merry-go-round of Life, Ashitaka and San, 6th Stop and One Summer's Day is my favorite! I just love Joe Hisaishi! Keep up the nice work!

+Mostupdate sure, can be, I never play exactly what is notated on the sheets. Otherwise you could just listen to Hisaishi playing it himself.

there are lot's of little things like that, most people don't play a piece perfect to the sheets, and those that play with emotion often less so However, having learned this piece myself, I will say that to play it as notated at the proper tempo as well would be far more difficult than to play it like this. It's not just the tempo that is slow, the timing is weird all over the piece, the tempo changes where on paper it should not. In any case it sounds amazing and before I learned the piece I would never have had anything nitpicky to say
