Held her back from what? She was just being a passionate mother. Are u guys equating a woman's passion and desire to make her child feel better, to some sort of outrage? Coz I haven't been in black women's circles Ina while, but I remember them having a term for that... the comments on his mum are very reminiscent of that Angel Reece thing a few weeks ago. Joe's mum did nothing that he needed to hold her back for. She was just being a mother and trying to console her son
@2008TheNemesis
@2008TheNemesis Жыл бұрын
@@SyraiQ he was clearly beat and she clearly had no idea what she was talking about. Man's was hurt. Other boxers have mothers and wives too but they wait till after the match to bring out their "what about"isms. But of course you have to make it a racial and gender thing. She was wrong, also, it was his moment she didn't have to go hopping In the ring to tell her piece. She could even go online later with a blogger if she liked but weren't nobody trying to hear that right then. Least of all Joe. He knew more than anyone how bad he got beat. Crawford calls his mum up but you don't hear her talking for her son, or criticizing the referee when she has never laced some gloves in her life. Nah. She just shows her pride and joy and goes home. She is also black and deeply invested in her sons career. So you take your pseudo afrocentricity armchair degree somewhere where they want to hear it like Dr Ummar's comments section. He has lack of head movement as he is advancing and throwing heavy shots at high work rate....you can't do that really while bobbing around. He is also not slow on his feet as people wrongly think. When you excel in a type of style or technique, other things have to be sacrificed, so it is about decision making and mixing things up...But if he incorporates more defence, then the relentless onslaught which breaks people down will be less potent.

Bizarre to see such an uplifting interview with him and his mother in the aftermath of a surprising and likely quite damaging defeat.

I see what you are saying. But in HW boxing, sometimes youre still an excellent boxer... but your weakness I a razor left hand. Fury wasnt great at dodging wallins remember and had a terrible cut, Zhang is MUCH more skilled than him. Remeber, joyce already beat Hrgovic in the amateurs and maybe he would knock him out. Maybe someone who would beat Zhang, would lose to Joe... HW boxing is rock paper scissors. I still see joyce beating AJ and going 12 with fury.

@@circleinfinite I think the majority of boxing fans though Hrgovic lost to Zhang so there’s no shame there. Zhang was able to step in to the inside and land his left straight all day which must have been very confusing considering Zhang had the technically worse positioning and was somehow dominating the exchange. At this point I don’t even think Wilder could put Joyce down.
@Ola2one

@Allen Sastre I see what you're saying but must counter your opinion. Joyce can take a punch, but if Wilder stunned him, he would put the windmill hand spinners into play and get him out of there. The only man who has escaped that in the pros is Fury and he came extremely close 😊

@@damotheman4196 Nah I disagree, I've not watched much of Zhang but the way he throws his straight left is deceptive, even when your eyes not all fucked up it can be hard to see them coming. It was similar in the Hrgovic fight - although he has better movement than Joyce, so it was less obvious. It's that combination of power, speed and being able to land seemingly from nowhere that has clearly served him very well over the years. Shame for him he's only getting the chance to challenge for mandatory status now, imagine if he had a promoter who could get him better fights back in 2017 when the belts were dished out to the likes of Charles Martin - he'd probably of been a champion by now, because could you really see him being beaten by Parker or Martin?

Actually feel for Joyce after this loss. I felt like this was always going to be the result against a "top" heavyweight but with his dominant wins over names that I thought were good Heavyweights I started to buy into the fact of maybe he is this sort of unstoppable force despite what the boxing may look like, he would just walk you down. Now I really hope he gets backed fully by Frank or if not another big promoter, he was too long under the Dubios shade and ever since he beat him its always felt like some sort of awkward promotion of him.

I agree with what you are saying. The point I was making about boxing being in a better place is the integrity in the sport. I have two sons who box and after the Fury/ Usyk debarcale recently my elder son said he is done with the sport. After failed drug tests and fights not being made that should be the sport is not in a great place. I feel the sport needs more people like Joyce.
