What do an overnight 40% drop in road accidents, a night in on the sofa watching TV and a good night's sleep have to do with digital product design?
Humans only have limited mental capacity and no-one is ever operating at 100%.
We are all influenced by the world around us and by how our minds work. As designers we need to be able to understand this and design for it.
Combining psychology theory, the latest in UX techniques Joe will outline a modern design framework that matches the modern complex world we and our users live in.
After all a designer who doesn’t understand psychology is going to be no more successful than an architect who doesn’t understand physics.

This was awesome. I usually fall asleep during lectures but this held my attention the entire 45min.

Amazing. Calling Maslow a garbage, really serious and professional individual.

The problem of most marketing/consultans people in the industry with Maslow's Pyramid (maybe it needs some updates, yet, it's still relevant!) is that it doesn't encourage you to blindly consume everything. You have some natural needs and that's it, while their professional interest is to create (somethimes not even better) more needs, needs which fall under artificial needs category (basicaly it's a new learned, usually conditioned by something, behavior that is away from your human natural normal needs and your human natural normal behavior and more close to their commercial needs and interests). P.S.1: And I don't have n's degrees is psychology and human behavioral neuroscience studies, I only have 1 year of sociology and the thing with human needs I know it from one of my teachers that was also involved in marketing research. P.S.2: Without being misunderstood, yet, the conference is good!

Amazing lecture, however, I think there are some more marketing-focused points that aren't being taken into consideration, so in a lot of cases, if you base your designs around these guidelines; there's a good chance that the marketing department will still request a ton of changes that 'ruin' it; as there's a bit of a conflict of interests here - sometimes making things just a little difficult for the end user means that the user will spend more time on the page, and in the meantime we can bombard them with offers, coupons, vouchers, ads and more importantly - upsells.
