To be fair, I think Francis was more just mentioning the root rather than disagreeing on the usage.

@@1beady1 not sure there are so many people who don't know this word although I agree that most probably don't know any of the other words with the same original root so you might be right.

Oh yes I absolutely agree. I used to do three months of alcohol free as well as other foods & drinks & I had to leave the pub. I live in a village so they were more than happy to give me a mug of hot water whilst I popped my herbal tea bag in it, for free! Cheap date.😄 but my goodness. If you don’t get there before people have a few in themselves you are really in the outside. The volume & broken record is just really tedious. I just go home. Nobody actually listens or has a proper conversation with anybody. The village I live in is super pub oriented & I’ve fully enjoyed that & those that I have enjoyed evenings with but when stone cold sober, but it’s gets to a point when you just don’t, when you are sober, get the laughter & get used to the volume any more.

Not illegal to eat orange in bath in California. I hate when people hear or read a ridiculous but quick thing on the internet or even a fluff piece and think it's true. But what's worse is when they tell someone else this thing is a fact. But what is even actually worse is the person who hears that fact from someone who read it somewhere then tells their guest and audience of youtuber listeners that this is true. Please if you hear or read something that seems ridiculous just do a bit of googling and fact checking that involves, in this case, an actual statute on a government/ legal website. p.s. I hate that Joe was only allowed to say like maybe 10 sentences!

The horse statue myth about hoof placement is a crock, too. Most of the time, worth telling people to check on snopes. This Jamie is typically charming, from his social class, (which proves nothing about genuine niceness, one way or another), but he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer...

52:00 Your discussion about memory and our mind's way of dealing with self evident facts that defy our belief lends itself to many a embarrassing realization, even more so with lifestyles as glamerous as you have had. It is worthy to mention that as we grow older these memories are reclaimed if we widen our perspective and see the folly of our previous response (as in the case with Jamie and his date), or remain lost and suppressed if we strengthen our conviction and/or harden our resolve (as currently seen amongst almost half of the American voting population).
@georgielancaster1356

Cognitive dissonance... Somehow believing something it seems you couldn't, with your avowed value system. Very much on display in many American voters. When you find yourself looking at someone in disbelief, when they give you an opinion, that seems to have nothing to do with what they claim is their personal moral compass. Cognitive dissonance... Looking at someone and thinking, "WTF?" Repeating what they have just said, in disbelief, thinking you have misheard... and having them confirm it, leaving you dumbstruck.

There's a law like the 'Shrewsbury' Law but in Nottingham. A male aged 14 and over can shoot a Scottsman with a bow and arrow within the boundries of the market square. 😊 And I thought 525600 minutes was a year ? N omg he DOES look like Sam. 😂

He IS like a lab. An untrained, bouncy yellow lab... Charming, good natured, bouncing in your face, but dim. You fake throwing the ball, and he still runs off to fetch it, even after the 25th fake. Repeating fake facts that were disproved possibly before his birth...

Honestly I’ve watched a couple of episodes of this podcast because they happen to have a number of good guests on, and no matter how much I like Joe Lycett, this episode was really quite unbearable. Unfortunately Jamie has the rather irritating habit of only being able to focus on what he wants to say, not even listening or reacting to what the other person has to say in a rush to finish his point. I also feel kind of bad for Francis because he’s more calm and conversational which makes for much easier listening but he often doesn’t get much of a chance to get a word in despite being a co-host - let alone the guest, the one the hosts are supposed to prompt to talk for the majority of a podcast.

Joe is right, a real billion should be a million, million or 1 million squared (bi-million), and a trillion is supposed to be a million, million, million or a million cubed (tri-million) the Americans changed it and for some reason, the world forgot all logic and adopted it as their way of counting.
