I didn’t know Van Gundy was on the staff. That’s a pleasant surprise. I like how Mazzulla described his role. Taking a birds eye view of the team, and give his feedback on how they can improve. Joe needs all the help he can get.

Yes I agree this role for him makes a lot of sense. I know being a broadcaster you have to take some critical stances when guys like Tatum are not showing up in post season games especially, and JVG definitely did that😂 but I also think many of his points were valid so it will be great to have his unbiased perspective there to help guide the team and call it like it is when things aren’t working

He's always been the most vocal commentator criticizing the Celtics in the playoffs imo, going back years. I used to think he just didn't like the Celtics but seeing him join the staff made me rethink things. Gotta say never thought I'd see him a part of the Celtics org, kinda funny to me.

@@YouCanCallMeReTro He was definitely biased against the Cs and really riding the warriors meat even on their bad nights 😂😂 But at the end of the day, that’s the type guy you need as another voice who shoots straight and calls bs where he sees it. He would be of no use to golden state🤷♂️

More coaches should follow Joe’s example. And this goes for the established experienced coaches as well. This shows me that Joe is very humble and he understands that as good as he is, he doesn’t know it all, and he will accept the help. Obviously as head coach, he must be the one steering the ship and the final decision maker under Brad and the owners. But having the humidity to listen to others is a strong trait to have in a leader. I’m happy with this.

Van Gundy coming onboard as a Sr. Consultant is a perfect fit You just ask him to provide a wealth of knowledge and then you take from it what you need to win and improve I wasn’t a fan of his broadcasting 😂 I thought he was always a bit tougher than necessary on the Celtics But hope he thrives in this new role with the Celtics org 🙌🏻

Let all of us be real. The Celtic's are a strong team if for whatever reason they get off to a slow start and Joe struggles with his duties he Will be let go and either Sam Cassell or Jeff van Gundy will be head coach.

Brad didn't want to admit huge mistake he made giving Joe position and these year at least he surrounded him with guys who got way more knowledge and experience playing in the league so hope this year assistants will guide Joe to be smarter

Glad Mazulla is welcoming the help at least publicly - he should be very humble and grateful to have a second chance and of ot works out great - I don't think anyone is going to give Joe anything other than full support and credit should and will be shared if we get to #18. However IF we DONT get there this year it will be and should be all on Joe - Brad got him EVERYTHING he could ask for and more- and yeah the next man up will be standing right there. I don't like Joe as head coach for this team, but if they succeed he can stay. He already got his second chance
