My dad was 25 when this game came out. I remember watching him play this cheering him on and laughing when he would get frustrated at the fails lol! 25 years later my daughter does the same thing. Love you and miss you very much dad.

My uncle gave me his SEGA Genesis when I was 7, along with two games: This one, and the original Sonic. Obviously I preferred Sonic, but this was my only other option when I got bored with that. In retrospect, the running commentary helped me to start understanding football--I think along with friends at school being into it, I have to give this game credit for making me a passionate football fan within 16-18 months.

I remember the only way to win this in hard mode was fake field goal for a guaranteed touchdown pass... "The kicking team comes on, on the first down and I can believe it. It's a fake, he throws, complete to the receiver. To the 50, 40 30, 20, 10, touchdown, the crowd goes wild"

My unstoppable play against level difficult was "Double in" from shotgun. I'd always throw to the corner routes right off their break. Must've been a glitch in the game because it worked most of the time. Love that though!

I played the crap out of this game. Until I realized that all you had to do was get to at least the 40 yard line, handoff to your RB and run in the opposite direction until the majority of the other team is chasing you and then run up the field and go! Worked every time.

It was so hard to complete a pass in this game but funny thing is I beat my cousin on a deep bomb pass on the last play of game lol. My cousin cried 😢 . Me and my brother still laugh at that to this day.

I used to smoke the CPU in this game, but it has a major bug. I once scored 107 points in a game, and the CPU had 14, and it put me losing 14-7. The next Montana game didn't do that thankfully.

Yeah might as well called it flag football. A slight touch and you're down. My friend and I played the crap out of first Joe Montana, this game, despite the good graphics and sound, was a big letdown. Good for those that like simulation, not so much if you like football to have a bit of the arcade. Too much simulation for me.

Since I am a 49ers fan my friends hated when I picked the 49ers cause due to trademark rights this game could only say the city and this guys voice was annoying and San Fran was a long name. So all they would hear is San Francisco gets a first. San Francisco scores,,San Francisico,,LOL. The next play would be going on and the annoucer is still saying San Francsisco. LOL

The crappy controls ruined this game. During the closeups sprite enlargments, it felt like the players were running on a sheet of ice and you could barely control your own player. I'll admit the graphics and the commentator soundbites were pretty impressive for the early 90's. Just awful player controls.

I remember being so disappointed by this game. I expected much more. I LOVED playing the first one, but the mechanics totally changed, and the commentary was really poor. Still brings back some long lost memories.
