When i heard this, i cried. I'm in grade 12 and i dont have great marks and i know i cant go into a university. My mom is so disappointed in me, and she degrades me to the family saying that i wont amount to anything anymore. I gave up trying, and i was losing my faith. I love this song. I still have this semester to persevere and im not giving up when it gets tough anymore. God hasnt given up on me yet
@ann88463 жыл бұрын
grades seem important when you're young, so i can empathize...your mom is probably worried about you, or maybe just unhappy with her life and taking it out on you (which isn't nice, as you know) but trust me, though people make a huge deal about grades and universities etc., they matter not at all outside of school. Far, far, FAR more important in life is the ability to persevere when things are not easy, to think for yourself, to be self-disciplined, and to work hard. Make yourself proud of yourself, be kind to yourself even if others are not, and keep that faith. You will find you have a lot of talents, and discover more the more you persevere.

I was told I would never be able to graduate from Nursing school because of my Lupus. My Director of Nursing said I would never make it and my parents said to give up and get a job! Even after I graduated my parents threw away my honor cords- Yes! I graduated with honors! I was a nurse at Methodist Hospital on the Cardiovascular Floor! I made it!

People don't realize how powerful words are. If you tell someone they are worthless once it will stick with them for a lifetime. Being a child of a mother who never wanted him I know that feeling all to well. Took me years to realize I didn't need to have approval of everyone. I only needed to have acceptance of myself. This song always hits home for me.

We’re so hung up on that “get over it” line. But if someone continues to have negative experiences, over and over again, why are we so surprised when they give up? I think the real problem isn’t the individual.

That's why I cry when I see this. He told me he felt worthless, his body gave up and his mind was tired - I told him he wasn't, that he was still needed and we would think of something - I wish I had never taken him to the doctor and just never let him no they took it away maybe I'd have him another 6 mths

i disagree Parker . I like how this poem sums it up. People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway..

I just accepted a great job offer in the corporate world and none of my family is happy for me...but when i was the help for a family....everyone was in my corner and even the family I work for is being so sarcastic now, and telling the kids i don't care about them anymore.. even after i thought about them and didn't leave right away and asked my new employer for the 2 weeks to accommodate them so that they can find new help....I feel so alone, but i know God is in my corner because he's the one thats given me this new blessing.

Just wanted to give a different perspective on this song. My dad had cancer and it kept on coming back. During his treatments everyone wanted to give up on him. When things didn't look like they were working they wanted to give up. I always thought of this song that I had heard when I was younger. I believed in my daddy and did not want him to just give up regardless of the opinions of others or the slim odds. He fought so hard till the very end. Even though he ended up passing away from his cancer I am so thankful he did not give up and that I was right by his side to keep him going on to keep trying. When you don't believe in others it can really put them down but just 1 person believing in you can change your whole outlook.

This song is truly touching to me, especially the first verse. I grew up in a home where my parents loved me, but they expected a great deal out of me: many of those expectations I knew I couldn't fulfill. Whenever I disappointed them, they would yell at me and call me "stupid" and that I "would never go anywhere in life". And, sadly for a while, I did give up. But, then I met my fiance when I was seventeen, who was the first person to tell me that he believed in me.... and I haven't given up on anything since. All you need is that one person to tell you that they believe in you, and then you find that you are indeed worth something. Just keep on trying to see the good in all things, and then you will find that one person who will believe in you. Don't quit trying, because at the very least, I believe in you...
@clueless37735 жыл бұрын
I believe in you. Don't let anyone call you names. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Because if anyone can meet expectations, then you can. Your parents are mean and they should encourage you to do better instead of belittling you. Don't give up, bud.

This song has been out since 2004 yet this is the first time I’ve ever heard it. I’m 27 years old and this song just reduced me to tears. I went through hell right before I got shipped out to boot camp, no one believed I could do it, everyone of everyday leading up to it kept reminding me how I’d never make it. It’s 8 years later, and I’m still in, honorably serving my country. As much as this song hit home for me, the part talking about how we continue to remove God from our lives hits even harder. This song is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever heard in my life, I just can’t believe it’s been almost 15 years since it’s been out and I’m just now hearing it. God Bless you Joe Nichols.

I've always LOVED Joe Nichols music 🎶. I can sense that he puts his heart, soul, feelings and emotions into every song he performs. His vocal range is outstanding! And to top it off, he's got a beautiful Mom and Sister Kelly, his best friend who is his wife and for sure, like he has stated, "the most beautiful woman I've ever met", Heather. He's been BLESSED to have such beautiful daughters, Ashelynn, Georgia and Dylan! Georgia and Dylan are "Rainbow babies" , live births after Mom & Dad have suffered at least one miscarriage. I couldn't imagine enduring the pain of 6 miscarriages like you and Heather have, Joe. My pain is different. I've suffered from severe depression my whole life & have chronic back pain from lifting too much weight on the job. My family has nothing to do with me because they don't know how to deal with Mom's mental health issues. I don't have anyone who loves or cares about me. All the places I've turned to for help won't give me any even tho it's supposed to be their job to help me. Community Mental Health has NOT been helpful just like all of the medications, therapy, counseling & hospitalizations. So tired of the so called professionals saying give it time. I've given DECADES of my time and I've NEVER got ANY relief from the Tormenting thoughts, constantly thinking about EVERYTHING I've ever done wrong in my life. Being blamed by the person who gave birth to me that everything was my fault. My only sister Kathy, was attacked with Multiple Sclerosis at a young age and passed away after suffering for 22 years. That was my fault, too. Therefore I see NO NEED to continue on. It's HIGH TIME that I put myself out of my misery. I DID NOT ASK FOR THIS!!! Animals are put down when they're suffering, so why can't humans have the same right?? I fully intend to be my own Jack Kevorkian. It would be nice if Joe Nichols would sing this song in memory of one of his fans. (Me) I'm just not sure if I'm worthy of his time. Goodbye Cruel World!!

If you are a parent, I bet you know some parents that need to hear this song. My Dad was ALWAYS my biggest cheerleader. For a young little one, that means SO much. I was an "average" kid. My Dad always said if you fail, make a plan to do it again, and again, and again if needed. He was so right. Never give up on dreams or success or school or relationships. Be encouraging to kids. It matters.

Putting so much belief in someone else,that's never believed in you, rips you apart. Don't step aside and put your life on hold for someone else, because all the promises of someday,and then it's us ,then yours is never true. You'll miss your chance at life and they won't care. They will never lift you and see the greatness in you that you did them. And that's just what people do.

I had a step-father that told me I would never amount to anything my who childhood and at one time I believed it. However I grew up and took those works and turned them around. I know own a very successful business that I have built over the past 12 years. If anyone tells you you're no go don't believe them. You can be anything you want to be. It will take a lot of work and commitment, but don't give up... Prove the non-believers wrong.

BTDT! Every time I did something better than my Dad, it was the LAST time we ever did it! I learned from that though! I told MY kids I was NEVER happier with them, than when they "out-performed" me at something! THAT WAS ONE OF MY MANY JOBS AS A FATHER!!! (HE might have been my Dad, but I had a GREAT Stepfather! and YES, I know I have a Father in heaven that is UNEQUALED!)

I think everyone should watch this video and really listen to words by Joe Nichols. Has a very profound meaning. I know all too well about what he's talking about. Never give up on the ones you love, you never know how far their true potential can lead them. And never give up on yourself as well.

I live in the US and I can’t lie and say that in the last 4 years I haven’t wondered how there could be a God that could let the plethora of things happen that transpired. From the worst man since Hitler becoming the leader of my country that I love, to a virus that could have easily knocked out the entire world, I still believe. I am lucky to have that ability because I’m still alive. If you’re reading this, please take a moment to pray for all the people, and their families, that were lost because of covid. (If just one person reads this and gives a prayer, ((as my grandma Vi would say)), I’ve done my good deed for the day).

Iv almost gave up on everything, I'm the black sheep in the family. My father is closer with my little brother and my mother walked away from me and my brother over 20 years ago, we were both raised by our grandparents. Even still they favored him, I was just there, I tried to end it all when I was 13 but if I successfully did I wouldn't be here today, i have a daughter that I never get to see, no friends to count on to help, if it wasn't for my amazing wife and step kids, only God knows where I would be

Sometimes I wonder if it is too late for us to turn to God, then I remember when he said Deuteronomy 31:8 “And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” I also think of this part: John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I can relate to this song. 2 years ago i was about to quit playing baseball because i was batting dead last with about a .025 average causing nobody to believe in me. But now i'm batting 4th with about a .250 average. So no matter what people think about you don't give up.

I always got told I could not do things, my family always asking me while I can not be like my sister and saying I am horrible at things that later on my friends say I am great at. Making me have very low self esteem and be very cautious. Then I met an amazing guy who is now my fiance. Believes I can do anything I want to do. I remember one time there was this job I really wanted, and he drove me to it. He asked me what was wrong when we stoped, I told him I was nervous. All he said is that I am qualified for any job, that just to be myself and he knows I will get it. Thanks to him I did the interview, then they told me they get back to me in a couple days. Twenty minutes later they called me and told me I got the job. I did not even make it home yet, it was on our message machine. He says I am really strong, but what he does not get that its his strength that made me this way. He's my rock.
