He knows the history of it, even down to what happened play for play when games were played in the 70's, 80's, and 90's.... when he's on ESPN, questions about sports history doesn't come up often..Go to his radio station and you'll see he is a student of the game. @punkination/videos I don't know if he threw but the matchup was weird. Askren vs Masvidal, Diaz vs Masvidal, McGregor vs Cerrone all seemed like big money moves for ESPN and while I don't think the fighters are fixing fights to go get knocked out, I think the matchmakers and background people are influencing the decision. With a history of underhanded things in sports, you have to at least consider it. That said, SAS' job is to be a recognizable color commentator, like how they have the technical and color guy as part of any combat sport crew. I bet SAS is still learning the ins and outs and probably doesn't take this "new" ESPN UFC sport as seriously, but it's his job. If UFC starts to prioritize it's casual audience, it will be the thing that crushes the sport.

It seems some of these major networks figure if they are going to pay these talking heads big bucks then their going to squeeze every penny out of the talent they can. In a way it's a win-win for them, they don't have to pay another "personality" to talk MMA.
