"Resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die."
@radbug4 жыл бұрын
Resentment is a tool designed to inform the individual of an error in the social structure they live in. Thats all it is. If you have resentment, there is an error in the social structure. It is caused by the social structure. Somehow you were convinced that it "mattered", whatever it is you resent, but guess what: it doesnt. Youve been fooled. it doesnt actually matter. what actually matters is the extreme imbalance of the social hierarchy. That is what your brain is trying to warn you about. That is why resentment exists. all suffering is caused by poorly designed social-economic structures.

@drgraphenbarg4 жыл бұрын
@@radbug you're description of resentment sounds resentful in itself. I agree resentment can be born from inequality or an error in social structure, but my personal experience and observation is that resentment more often comes from our own inability to meet a mark or make an achievement. Sometimes this inability is due to outside circumstance or inequality, and sometimes it's due to our own failures. Either way it seems best to avoid resenting society or existence seeing as the former disempowers you, whereas the latter does empower you even if it's a hard pill to swallow. Resentment in one form or another is more likely to harm you than it is to harm the thing you resent or anything else.

@christopherferguson84343 жыл бұрын
I disagree, it depends what way you choose to take the jealous. Like all emotions, jealous has a productive purpose: it’s forcing you to look at someone who’s doing something you’re not and think “hmm what can I take on board from them to improve myself?” That’s healthy competition and it fires you up to get better. Or you can go the bitter hater route, which is the negative path they’re initially talking about

Then another part thats like "i can get better than them with diligence." I've heard it a few way's "Having hate for someone is like drinking poison expecting the other person to die." "Resentment is drinking poison, hoping the other person will die." all the same message though ha.

Comparing yourself to others is a double edge sword, but it can make you recognize a lot of stupidity that happened in your life, that led to where you are today, like negligent parenting.

"to compete is to discover yourself" this is from the movie "fearless" with Jet Li, when he is talking to the Japanese fighter having tea, to compete is not to defeat someone, ,but to discover where in the rankings, if you are second then you need to strive to be first, if y ou are first then you should maintain a constant state of training, in order to retain that title of "1st" or "top", the moment we get distracted with dumb shit is the moment we loose the title and we slip.

@lowellforbear32652 жыл бұрын
Not everyone can be a winner. If everyone was a winner - winners wouldn’t be special. Just be happy there are so many loser out there so you can feel good about yourself. Don’t pretend to give a shit about others. Your a winner. The fact that the majority of people “live lives of quiet desperation” make you the winner.

Don't hate people that are better than you. Admire the dedication, consistency, sacrifaces and work etic that took them to be there and if you want to beat them and willing to do the sacrifaces necessary to reach that level then believe in yourself and go for it without second taughts or distractions.

There is a difference between wondering how someone found success and being envious of that success. Some of us did not live or have success around us. To try to have success ourselves we may need to see and find success in others to find it in ourselves.

I had a friend jealous of me before and i never realized because i never got jealous of people i didn't get that emotion. I would stupidly invite him out with my friends and they would all turn against me because of what he would say about me behind my back.

I think there’s a difference between envy and hating. Hating is a waste of time but envying means there’s an inner desire to want what the other person has, which would not only tell you something about yourself but also encourage you to pursue and work hard towards that thing

People don’t realize the awful treatment they dish out to others for whatever reason, only makes us work harder to better ourselves. It’s fuel and energy for us to push past all the criticism and make ourselves into the better overall person! In Essence their shifty behavior transforms us into better people through harder work. Assholes essentially create this better version of us, and it will piss them off. Their new jealousy will now make them re-evaluate their situation and make them work harder, while we have moved on. Peace! Hopefully then learn something about themselves in the process.......

So true. I find that if someone expends energy being angry/annoyed/frustrated at me, or worse yet - hating me, then they could very well be jealous. You don't need to expend energy on these idiots. Every time someone told me "you can't do that" or "you're not ready for that" or "you could never get that job"....I've proven them wrong. F--k Them. Focus on what's in front of you! :)

This is why I love martial arts good template in terms of it's teaching's for so many of life's obstacles; Thing I'm still learning and am getting better at is not to be jealous or down concerning myself with what other people are doing how far their ahead, unfairness etc. It ruins the reasons why I was interested and passionate about something in the first place and just makes me bitter and depressed and stop caring about everything which in turn makes me not perform or function to my best. I now try to actively stop concerning myself about what others are doing and just concerning myself with what I'm doing. I'm not racing/competing with them I'm only racing/competing with myself; (I tell that to people whom want to try martial arts and are new I see them get frustrated and give up cause they look around I can see their thinking why aren't I that good etc). I found I'm allot more happy and it's harder for anything others can say or do that'll stick and get me down. But it's a constant struggle/journey sometimes, but I pick my self up and not let anything keep me down like that song, except I no longer piss the night "life" away.

Sometimes success works for people because of the personalized situation they are in or opportunities that were shown to them. The best thing to learn is how to notice and exploit opportunities when they come.
@martinmikkelsen81834 жыл бұрын
success is different for each person... to me as an example success is to play a shit ton of pc games, write some music and not care what the rest of you think about it... the last part is the difficult part... sure i can copy another musician, listen to his music and then try to make my own sound like his... but what is the fucking point then? then i might aswell be a working man... it is no longer MY music... it is no longer what I, MARTIN MIKKELSEN brought to the world... now it is just an attempt at trying to achieve respect, money or power from others through music... even if i manage to achieve those three things by copying another person then i still lost the ability to add something new to the world...
