He's playing the role of a promoter, the promoter is supposed to be hated especially by the fighters, he's the "boss". Dana White recently denied someone a UFC contract saying he wasn't happy the guy went for a takedown with 10secs left in the fight b/c it wasn't exciting or he wasn't fighting hard enough. That same fighter that was denied a contract for "not fighting hard enough or not exciting enough" posted himself pissing blood on social media.

There's a reason they have to DROP THE GLOVES in a hockey fight. Gloves add weight and lead to the blow covering a much larger area on the head, which means the brain is getting slammed harder than with a bare fist. Bare fists lead to more damage to the tissue but less damage to the brain. Add to all of this that gloves protect the hands and you have a fighter willing to put everything behind his punch because the threat of serious damage to the hands is mitigated. Yes, bare knuckle fighting leads to more lacerations, but I'd rather have a few cuts on my face than a concussion, brain bleed or CTE at a young age.
@haydenjansen22244 жыл бұрын
Lol that's not why they drop the gloves in hockey. Hockey gloves are built significantly different to gloves used in fighting the only point of them is to protect your hands from sticks. They drop them becuase the gloves are a hindrance in a fight and you cant properly punch someone. Hockey fights is all together a bad comparison to professional fights though as the main goal is to get the other guy to the ice rather than fully knock him out due to risks of heads hitting the ice etc plus in like 95% of them only 2 or 3 punches land square the rest are typically glancing blows or miss all together. That being said I dont watch any fights other than hockey so could be totally wrong about the differences.

The comment section: "UFC doesn't get paid much", "bare knuckles boxing is/isn't more dangerous" Me: not even the point of the clip. The point of the clip is that the employer is not giving an inch of room for the employee to do their job. So basically these fighters go through what you go through at work...a manager that has never worked your position trying to micro manage you. These fighters need breathing room to work their strategy to with the fight...but the employers don't care about that, they simply want both fighters to engage as quickly, and recklessly as possible for excitement.
@gagetaylor543 жыл бұрын
Thank You! When doing this, technique is everything! Of course this is bareknuckle boxing, and boxing in general, so someone is bound to get hurt, but attempting to mitigate super-serious and threatening injuries by way of advanced and precise techniques should be mandatory. If you wanna see fast, bloody action, watch a cock-fight, because maybe the real people fighting for their money and wages first and other’s amusement as a close second don’t want to be treated like pit-animals of whom are being told something along the lines of “you don’t fight, ya don’t eat”.

The big trade off between bare knuckle and gloves is literally cuts vs. concussions. Any skin to skin contact has a certain degree of adhesion and when bare knuckle meets face there is a high chance that the face gets literally ripped open. Gloves mitigate that chance, but since the hand isn't breaking as much your hand essentially becomes a club and concussions have a higher chance of happening. Generally if you're given a choice between cut and concussion you should want to go with the cut, but if you do you run the risk of infection and a whole slew of other problems.
@LoopDoc5 жыл бұрын
Steven Galiniak well put
@joshrobertson17795 жыл бұрын
This is similar to what’s going through my head. Who knows, could be that bare knuckle results in less concussions because of the nature of how this changes fighting style, and the types of impacts the fighters are exposed to. It’s similar to the conversation on rugby vs football. Helmets allow you to take more hits which exposes you to a greater volume of harmful impacts. Also, in rugby since there isn’t as much protection they must adapt their tackle mechanics, a training technique that’s been adopted by footballers due to concussions. I’m a fight fan, martial artist, and concussion specialist. So naturally I’m very interested by the fact this sport has emerged given all the controversy on brain health out there. I’ve got a million questions. Infection is an interesting point. Since bare knuckle results in higher risk of blood contamination (since the knickers are exposed), are the BNB considering the risks of exposing opponents to certain bloodborn diseases? Although I bet stuff like this is covered well in their contracts. Too bad Joe will never see this comment, he could probably tell us.
@blaynegreiner93655 жыл бұрын
@@joshrobertson1779 I would hope that it would all be prevented and accounted for due to being regulated but the founder seems like the kind of guy that honestly doesn't care too much beyond *looking* legitimate. EDIT: Also regarding American football/rugby, you also have to take into account the difference in size of the players. Hits in football are a far sight more dangerous than in rugby for so many reasons.
@jonathanmosher725 жыл бұрын
The UFC will turn into fights stopped early because of cuts and broken hands. There is no way in hell the UFC medics would let a guy get as fucked up as the guy with stitches all over his face. Where do you draw the line on "reality" Why have any rules?
@seandlax95 жыл бұрын
@@joshrobertson1779 There's a lot more going on with hits between football and rugby. For one, the actual contact rules are different, IE spear tackles/checks are illegal in rugby and only the ball carrier can be checked. The nature of the games is different as well. Football is considered a game of inches. Stopping a guy on the spot is important because literally an inch can determine whether there's a punt and/or change of possession, or a new set of downs and/or a touchdown. This results in much more violent collisions. Rugby, being a much more free flowing game, this isn't nearly as important. Hell, giving the ball carrier a couple inches so that your team is in better position to gain possession is actually encouraged.

Bareknuckle is not a new sport, considering it was a very popular sport back in the wild west. Ok I have fought in the street and in a match with and without gloves while I don't agree with the rules I do wish bare knuckle boxing is more common because despite common belief gloves make knockouts easier because it puts more weight into your hands and extends your reach.when you have extended reach you have an easier time knocking the chin around and more weight means heavier punches.when your bare knuckle all that's potentially risky is knuckles can cut more often.the entire reason that UFC doesn't go gloveless any more is because the common people don't understand gloves actually provide more risk towards brain damage and life threatening injury but because the gloves are padded so therefore they are safer than bare knuckle

Bare knuckles increase the chance of breaking one's fist when striking bone (like the skull), which tends towards fewer punches thrown at the head and reduced power for the ones that are. The fights also tend to be shorter, ending in fewer hits. Additionally, bare knuckles precludes the possibility of loaded wraps and such. There's plenty of information out there. Do a web search if you don't believe me.

@Lucas Cruz I could be wrong, but I think they're meaning the way MMA was viewed within wider sports culture, at a time when the average person was not familiar with it. Obviously Martial Arts are the furthest thing from 'hillbilly', but it does seem like there was a point in time not terribly long ago when MMA was widely rejected as a legitimate sport by non-practitioners and those unfamiliar with its background, and dismissed as something appealing only to hillbillies. Those people couldn't have been more misguided and the sport exploded and enjoys relative popularity and acceptance now, but, that wasn't always the case.

I think you mean early UFC, back in the Tank Abot style brawler days. Like this clip kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y86qjaxpndmclac.html...The difference with BKB (Bare Knuckle Boxing) is it is only fists and the fighting is paused the moment a fighter falls, and is allowed to recoup or ref calls it. Superficial cuts on the face heal easily, but hammer fisting a downed opponents head while it lifelessly bounces with each blow must be more detrimental for the brain. I watched a lot of BKB fights tonight from the likes of ex-UFCs Chris Leberman, Joe Riggs and Bec Rawlings, and of course, UK's current BKB champ Jimmy Sweeny. It was surprisingly really good, clean fighting with much more medical stoppage/supervision than old or current UFC IMO. I'll be watching to see if it takes off mainstream in U.S. once more ex-UFC fighters who got hurt or aged out of the primetime PPV cards jump over.
