So true.. hurting people like that, stays with you forever.. I was once a talented, 17 year old Muay Thai fighter. I was in town, getting beers with a friend. And 3 people came at him suddently. I tried to stop it. But one of them attacked me with a kick. I pushed him back, he tried to grab my shirt. But I knocked his hand to the side with my left arm, and punched him full power, on the jaw attachment. He went completely cold, his legs gave up and he fell like a sack of potatoes. His friends backed off, I was in totally adrenaline kick. So I went after them, and the group they came from. They all backed off. I saw the guy fumbling around, couldn't stand on his feet. I went back to help him. Asked if he was okay. But he saw me and went right into attack mode again. This time, i grabbed his shirt and pulled, while I hit him with full speed, right on the ear. This time, he laid totally still. The police came, questioned me and my friend. And they let us go, writing it down as self defense. But I saw this guy, several weeks after that day. He walked around with a stick for blind people. And he had become deaf.. I destroyed that mans life forever. I know it was self defense. I know it could have ended worse for myself if I didnt. But.. since then, I have had a tremendous respect towards violence. And I always seek to resolve my problems without it. It is a last resort. That experience, that picture of me doing that. And the memory of him walking through the town, blind and deaf.. that stayed with me forever... Before that. I was often in a fight. After that. I have been in very few.. and I have rarely had the needs to hit anyone... Hitting someone else, can seriously change yours and theirs life forever...
