"Beyond the Supernova" is a tour documentary that offers a glimpse into the mind of the guitarist. Join Satriani while he performs music from Shockwave Supernova through Asia and Europe as he looks back on his career. We learn of the autobiographical concept behind the record and how it plays into determining Joe Satriani's next creative step. We'll also go behind the scenes of the Surfing To Shockwave World Tour featuring performances from Joe, Mike Keneally, Bryan Beller and Marco Minnemann, as well as cameo appearances by guitarists Steve Vai and Guthrie Govan.

There's one reason that Joe's music will still be listened to when other guitarists are forgotten - he writes great tunes. Even his solos have great tunes.

who is the director of this documentary? he's a super colossal extremist! the video editing is not of this earth. watching this show makes me feel like i'm flying in a blue dream for real. a surfing with the alien kind of experience. but overall, Joe's music is indeed a strange beautiful music, he is the engine of creation.

Fantastic documentary. I saw Joe on his first worldwide “Surfing” tour in Honolulu. The Andrews Amphitheater at the University of Hawaii. Hardly anytime who he was, and I dragged a few friends with me. They still thank me to this day. Go Joe Go!!!

Joe, Steve, The Aristocrats crew....OMG. How did this not popup in my feed earlier? That was great. Well worth the watch. Joe was always one of my heroes since I found him when I was 18. EVH, SRV, JS, SV, GG....in that order of discovery. Just my humble opinion but the electric guitar is one of the most, if not THE most expressive instruments ever invented. It's mind blowing to see the current crop of KZfaqrs like Max Ostro, Matteo Mancuso and others and what they have achieved technically, but the flipside of that is the actual songwriting, and that will separate the men from the boys, so to speak. Write guitar music for music's sake, not for yourself or other players. Anything outside of that is just showing off, and we all know that guy.

Great insight #joesatriani ...i can relate to your first gig being nervous and facing the drummer...i hid behind the base player on my first gig, until the organiser said to get my arse to the front of the stage as i was the lead guitarist 🤣 ...many many moons ago! Great memories!

Excelente documental. Emocionante hasta las lágrimas. Salud, Joe!!! 🥂

because the original claim was that it was some kind of "radio interference signal" being picked up by the studio's recording equipment and it ended up on the tape, so they thought it sounded cool and left it there... so that was a lie? or did they end up finding what the exact source of the audio was? was it a TV show?
