Жыл бұрынDirector Joe Sedelmaier made some of the funniest, most famous commercials of all time, with classics for Wendy's and Alaska Airlines among others. This video is a "greatest hits" so to speak, and when I saw it in my youth of the 1990's, likely got me started on the search for funny, "old" commercials!

you dont see the words "orwellian" and "screwball" heard to describe something often, but the world mr sedelmaier painted comes close

I don't know why but in the middle of all this terrific comedy the Mountain Bell ad had me tearing up. Thanks for these mate, this director really knew his stuff. Cheers mate.

Clara Peller,the "where's the beef " lady in the Wendy's commercials in the 1980s was a hairdresser in Chicago

She was certainly a remarkable find. Even over here in UK, where the ad never ran and we don't even have Wendy's, the slogan was well known. I think it's Clara's delivery that really sells it. Even when she only gets to shout 'where!' in the drive-in ad, it's still hilarious.
