After the ROCO Minitrains HOn30 (HOn2 1/2) (HOe) (HOn) became popular Joe Works of Japan started offering brass kits and later brass locomotives in HOn30.
****************************************************************
The kits were a blast to build!! Fun and generally easy, very easy as brass kits go. All photo etched with white metal castings, the finished models looked great! The locomotive kits were difficult to get to run well, mostly because the electrical pickup was a real challenge. So we left out the motors.
************************************************************
Later they released ready to run brass shays and other geared locomotives which were amazing!!
************************************************************
The scale-gauge was short lived, mostly dying off in the 1990s. Still modeled by some, it was sort of a fad in its time.

Love that little loco. Very popular! Still around, for about 550 now... As you can see I paid 150, which was the list price in the late 80's when it came out. Runs well. Wonder it I could figure out how to put DCC on board?

In the late 70’s early 80’s I remember wearing out the pages of the Walter catalogue. I was blessed to have a little hobby shop in my town growing up the owner took pity on me as I was his best customer, with no money, however when I did have some I spent like a drunken sailor.

"You are a better man than I.." I cannot begin to imagine what it was like working on this inky-dinky stuff. That would be a hoot to see run, sometime. Better you film it so we can actually see it. Fun stuff, you two. Greg and Jeanne

HOn30 is making a comeback. Minitrains.eu is offering some of the most fantastic running HOn30 locomotives you'll ever see. And they're dang cute. With the help of 3D printing and laser cutting some companies are offering really neat stuff in the Scale. The best part of HOn30 is you get the availability of HO scale structures and accessories, but you can fit it in N scale space.

Just to remind out friends to the north, we love you!!! My roommate a few years ago was an illegal from Canada. One of our friends was illegal from Germany. Still very close friends. The canadian is now a citizen (got married) and the German was deported and we got it fixed after a year and about 20K in fees. He too got married, great asset to America. ANYWAY, we love Canada!!! And America!!

Interesting that you should blow the dust off the little passenger car. How do you dust and keep clean everything in garagemahol? Do you have some sort of circulating air filtering system?

Does HOn3 run on n scale track? I'm looking into getting a brass K-27 in HOn3, but i want to make sure it will run on n scale track before i buy it.
@ToyManTelevision
@ToyManTelevision 4 жыл бұрын
Hi. And NO. HOn3 is a bit wider. N gauge works out to HOn 2 1/2 also known as HOe and HOn 30. It different by 6 scale inches. Which in HO isn’t much. But it won’t work.

I have the Mich-Cal version of the Flying Zoo series. And not long ago I acquired a Mason Bogie. Already built up and painted. Then I also acquired one of the new reproductions of the small Forney and a passenger car. The reproduction equipment ran well But has disappeared from the market. Not sure what happened

I remember these ads for Joe Works in the French magazines at that time. I still must have somewhere an A4 ad with several Joe Works locomotive and stuff on it. As I was just starting to do narrow gauge, the American typed models made it less attractive to me than the ready to run Roco. I don't think that Joe Works still exists, but like Tenshodo, the many other narrow gauge Japanese maker are now doing a lot of Japanese prototype, no more American. I bought (and build) two On30 Aru Model kit, but they have even more choice in HOn30: arumo.a.la9.jp/arf1.htm On30: arumo.a.la9.jp/arf2.htm As like build kits, N scale may not be so attractive to me, but these Japanese N scale kit are tempting: arumo.a.la9.jp/rnf0001.htm
