Totally agree on the importance of engine sound. It’s also the thrill of taking a good IC engine to red line, the power and sound building to a peak.

I've had my '19 M5 Comp for 9 months now. Matte Marina Bay Blue on Tartufo interior. Intakes, lower downpipes and an x-pipe and it sounds ridiculously good. Carseat in the back for daycare runs and terrifyingly fast when it's just me in the car. I usually change cars every year or two, but the M5C is just so incredibly good, I have no idea what I would even replace it with. Home run by BMW.

2020 models have been adapted to better work with the ppf filter so the exhaust has been fine tuned when compared with the 19 cars which moved from no ppf to having a ppf without sound recalibration. The reason why it will only pop and bang a certain number of times is ecu calibration to prevent excessive wear and tear to the filter. Cheers

Awesome things. I followed one for a bit in my M140i a few weeks ago and the grip and speed out of roundabouts in the wet was staggering. Like this a lot, but the blue one with these add ons would be spot on.

Those wheels are unbelievable! Definitely one of the best spec M5's I've seen. Also sounds great too! Does it have the MPPSK exhaust upgrade? Eg upgraded exhaust with valves and tuning?

We hear you over in the States Mr. Achilles! Just recently traded in my 2016 RS7 (which I absolutely enjoyed) for a '20 M5 Comp in Bluestone Metallic. Your video summed everything I've experienced thus far. Can't believe how strong the high gears pull across the rev band. My downshifts sound like my car is being carpet bombed with grenades! I would've preferred to have the Michelin Pilots instead of P Zeros, which feel like glass slippers on cold runs but..cheers

I have the standard M5 which I bought after testing the E63S which was too hard for daily use and the M5 Competition which was somewhere in between. For me it is a daily driver, not a weekend weapon so it has to have a degree of comfort. However even in standard form the suspension is magical in its ability to cope with undulations and odd cambers mid corner. It's not quite as sharp when you're on it but it does the daily better for me and the roads I drive. I tend to use Sport as my default throttle setting to avoid the slightly anti-social pops and bangs when I am around other traffic but it sounds wonderful and is just so fast and controlled.

Ur spot on when you mentioned the Tesla and it being silent. When I drive quickly I have the radio off and love listening to gear changes and the engine revving and banging 🤷🏻‍♂️ that’s just me. Speed is only 50% of the fun I think sound makes up the rest.

I am not even looking for an M5 but I loved the video. Great work as ever, this is rapidly becoming my favourite channel. On the subject of noise, yes it has pops and bags but there does not seem to be much theatre on acceleration.

I test drove an m5 non compack today. It was an absolute weapon. Not as focused as my f80 however, at least it put all its power down.

Your enthusiasm is infectious, Joe!! That's why I tune in. Couldn't agree more about the X3 M. BMW needs to be called out for ruining that car by giving it a suspension that's totally at odds with its intended use. It's not a track car. I ended up opting for the X3 M40i, even though I wanted the S58 engine.

Another great video Joe. I'm a BMW first member (aging 3-series coupe owner)and inspired by you I rented the M2 Competition for 2 days last year. I was chatting with the guy who prepped the car before the hand over and shared that I was very excited about having the M2 for two days because I had been following your vids and he said him and the other garage prep guys follow you as well. I'm hoping they get a M5 comp in the range now.

Great review- great car. I have the standard M5 - it’s a brilliant daily. My only complaint- not a great exhaust note - but I think that’s the case for most modern cars.

Hi Joe, thanks for the M5 Comp review. I totally agree that this car is the ultimate 4 seater, especially as I do have one! Mines a 2019 in Bluestone Metallic and I totally love it! One thing I wasn't sure about is why you still have the old style instrument display, mine has the new style digital dashboard?

I love my 2016 Monte Carlo blue m5, powerful, comfetable and for a big car it handles very well.

The stance & THOSE WHEELS on this M5 Comp. are absolutely sick!

I love the F90, with the new LCI that came out I think I’ve got a bit of an affinity for it. Some people dont really like the new LCI because it’s not really BMW esk but I adore it.

Are you sure thats a 2020 model year car? It has the old speedometer/tach. The 2020's all come with the updated fully digital display.

Hey Joe ! My name is Rick. After decades of waiting for my two 401k's to mature I've finally ordered my dream car the BMW M5 Competition. I'm 61 years old and I remember seeing the first BMW M5"s Parked on a street in Manhattan. This being back in the 1980's all those young bankers and brokers were buying Porsche 911's with a mere 180 horsepower. I saw a lot of BMW's around back then but I remember seeing a BMW 5 series with a red M and a red 5 on the front grille. The owner told me all about the 1985 BMW M5 and I was hooked. There I was January of 2022 placing an order for my M5 Competition. Got my M5 Comp delivered to me 4 days ago in all it's glory. During the wait for my M5 I saw a lot of videos stating that it no longer crackles and pops when you rev it up. I'm over here in the good ole U.S.A. and my M5's exhaust crackles and pops to my relief. I guess the noise restrictive exhaust was reserved for just a few countries. I also heard rumor that due to a lack of electronic components there would be no tachometer on the heads up display. Well I don't know about any other countries but my 2022 M5 Comp has the hockey stick shaped tachometer on the heads up display in full color. I really love this car. It's a car you never get board with. I'm going to keep this car for the rest of my life. My buddy bought an M5 comp 3 years ago and he says he still gets thrilled ever time he gets behind the wheel.Some time I get in my M5 start it up hit the M Sport button and watch the tachometer appear, Then hit the red M1 button on the steering wheel and watch the car come alive. As far as the M1 is concerned I have everything set to sport plus and rear wheel only drive. Do some burn outs and some donuts. I have all the same setting on the M2 button except I have it set for four wheel drive then I drag race. Do I have any plans for any mods? Heck yea. I'm going to have installed the loudest sport exhaust, down pipes and a one hundred horsepower tune.

Hi Joe, awesome video and it's clear from your mannerisms that the M5 Competition is clearly as amazing a car as I imagine it to be. I commented a year ago on your first review that the M5 would be my go to car after winning the Lotto. I'm still waiting on that! But it's still my go to car! 😁 I'm not sure about the exhaust, but from what I've noticed the M5s made after July 2019 have a different dash board layout to the traditional circular one in your test car. Maybe although the car was only recently registered, it was made pre July 2019 and they didn't have the exhaust filters fitted. Good luck reaching 100k subscribers, you deserve to get there, as your personality and video shoots are great.

Joe, I’ve got a 2019 M5 Competition and when I’ve been in the car about 3 hours, my right leg goes numb. I have a seat pad for long trips so I can’t agree with you on the seats being comfortable for long trips. I did a 12 hour one way trip in my 2012 991.1 CS and those 18 ways are more comfortable for me with no leg numbness. Had a 2008 M3 and those seats were fine. I also had a 2006 997.1 with standard seats and those were terrible. All manual except for the M5 of course.

It's great to hear how much you and people like Ricky from LLF know about these M cars and are really passionate about them, unfortunately I'm still blocked on Instagram I think I commented on a previous video about it but guess it's not worth going on about it any more
