How to paint ocean spray, rocks, and waves with watercolor. This watercolor tutorial looks at how to capture the feel and energy of sea spray over rocks in the ocean. Waves with lots of foam and rocks are also covered in detail.

I so enjoy your tutorials and learning then taking what I learn and practice those methods you’ve taught . I do have a question though … quite often I try to do skies and am finally seeing some decent ones develop but when I try to do a stormy sky for instance, I get mud. How do I prevent this?

I suspect you are continuing to fiddle with yor dark sky, after it has lost its shine. That is the most common reason for mud in a stormy sky. Glad you are enjoying my videos.

As an artist I make skies as dark or light as they suit the composition. Never let reality get in the way of a good painting.

I really liked this video, but when you dried the paper before painting the next part, does that dry out ALL the water you put on the back and then it's not stuck to the board any more like when you use masking tape?

Glad you liked the video. Sometimes when I use the hair dryer I just dry the very top layer so that the paper underneath is still damp, other times I dry the whole thing and "carefully" rewet it as in the beginning of my painting. If I am nearly finished and just have one or two small shapes to put in, then I don't rewet the back. So the short answer is "it depends", I rewet the back when I have to but not always. I'm sorry if I'm being rude but in the first 2 classes u told us to use 3 basic colour only nd now u are using so many diff colours in 3rd class so it's really confusing for me to get the idea of what to buy at the first place, hope u reply I really wanna learn watercolor but idk how to start i saw ur playlist nd thought i might get all my answers here u explain really well i love it but idk what colour to start with i genuinely have no idea i hope u see this nd reply i really need some help sir😔🙏

Only about the first then of my beginners lessons just use three colors. After that I moved to my more normal palette of about 12 colors. A three color palette is never totally complete and only useful for learning purposes. That is why I mention which colors I use in each painting.
