second song I watched from them some years ago. And I have to admit, that this is the stile I like the most. But I am and will be a Madiac not only because of the music and their musical talent ( amazing what they did with the rock songs, turning them into acoustic version on the christmas concert ), but also because of their personalities. I really love that girls for what they are and how they have changed. Especially Saiki who was the Ice-Princess at the beginning...there is no more ice there, she is so warm, friendly and funny ( i laughed my ass of, on "Band Maid Nippon" ). Wish the girls a long and successful career and pls come to Europe soon.

It's funny how Mike mentioned the Anime connection seeing as Band Maid's drummer Akane is a huge anime fan, and they have now composed several songs for anime series/games. :)

This is one of my favorite songs of theirs but the funny thing about this song is the mix drowns out Minchos noodling. I saw a live version and the noodling is more prominent and it sounds awesome

Why didn't you tell him that Band Maid had a 14 city sold-out US tour in Oct. 2022. Also J Rock news ranked them the #1 rock/metal band in Japan for 2022. They are scheduled for 2 Festivals in the US this year. Introduce him to Nemophila, their US tour is in March.

Thinking about long attention span, there’s a great Japanese metal band (NINGUN ISU ) they have 10 minute songs, absolutely amazing stuff

I agree with his statement about attention span. You have been reacting to a lot of bands with strong female singers, it may be time to visit Italy and do something different. The band Lacuna Coil has a male and female singers, I recommend the song Reckless.

I like The Ataris but you do NOT want Band Maid opening for you. You're asking for a nightly ass kicking. You are right about the attention span issue. Social media has ruined the West for many different things, including music. The US does have a VERY hard core Band Maid fan base though. We aren't legion, but we are crazy.

The loyalty thing is true. Here in Germany, it's often the case that if you have a fan base, you have a fan base. Some artists like Joe Cocker would have survived without their fans in Europe. Not only in rock, also R'mB and so on. The other thing is, what people in the U.S. like to overlook, there are music markets that can survive without the U.S. China and India, for example, are completely different big ones. You can become a superstar there and fill stadiums without anyone outside knowing you. Then I read that in Japan many clubs and small stages have their own PA. The musicians only need to come with their instruments and start playing. This is a great advantage for girl bands.
