Joel, sir, funfact is, they started out as a barbershop quarted. While Pentatonix and Home Free have labels as a capella bands, voiceplay kept their independence. They can do so much because of their patrons. You will meet a lot of good people, informing you about voiceplay. They had member changes during the years. Core members and founders are Laney Stein (beatboxer) and Geoff Castellucci (bariton/bass), another coremember is Eli (spoken like jelly without the j) Jacobson(first tenor). A partime member not in this video is J. None (tenor to bass) who is currently serving in the Navy choir Washington D.C. The newest member also Tenor to bariton is, Cesar de la Rosa a funny and charming gentleman. The young blonde man with this incredible voice is Anthony Gargiula a young friend who likes to sing with them, gathering experiance. Ashley Diane is also a recurring guest with tremendous talent and humor. I hope I did not bore you. Merry Christmas eve. German greetings.

Just adding to this excellent description -- Gargiula is pronounced gar JEE oo lah. I think. I speak Portuguese, not Italian, so I'm not sure where Italian would put the emphasis. Without a diacritic, Portuguese puts the emphasis on the third from last syllable, as shown above. But certainly a G in front of an I is going to be a soft G or a J sound.

I sent you this request and I am so glad you checked it out. Voiceplay is my favorite of the top three a cappella groups on KZfaq, they are like the theater kids. Their regular fifth member is doing a stint in the navy so they use a variety of guest singers to fill the fifth spot.Pentatonix, Home Free and Voiceplay are all five member a cappella groups and each have a low bass singer and beat boxer. I really like your channel! Thank you.

They have so many different types of songs, you're sure to find something. Want classic rock? Try Nothing Else Matters or Dream On. Want Disney? I'd recommend The Little Mermaid Medley or Friends on the Other Side. Want fun and quirky? Boy Bands in Five Minutes, or definitely Drunken Sailor. Epic? Hands down my fav still is Hoist the Colours, but you also have My Mother Told Me, Valhalla Calling, etc. Into gaming? Try the Halo theme or Dragonborn Comes. Emotional? Creep is awesome as are several others. So on and so on. There is something for everyone out there. Enjoy the journey!

The entry of the guys coming in was divided into about 4 parts of the entry. It took me a couple of takes to actually see the progression of the guys coming in, from Cesar (baritone and tenor smoking the cigarette in the song) making his way up the escalator, Geoff (bass) coming down the aisle and evading things on the floor, Anthony (Gar - jewl' - la aka Riff Master) turning through the halls, Eli (high tenor) dragging the bat, later along the broken glass railing, Layne (beatboxer) picking up a window frame, then a pipe that he throws. Anthony has been on VoicePlay's radar since he was in his mid teens. This past year they've featured him several times - this one, Creep, Golden Hour. VoicePlay is unique among the acapella groups in that they refuse contract management. They live in Orlando, have worked at theme parks like Disney and Universal and know the value of the audio pre-mix, camera work, staging, costuming, and they take all of that on themselves. It lets them retain all creativity. Ed Boyer is the last word in final audio mix. Last month the group (not Anthony but Omar Cardona another guest) were invited up to NJ to be onstage with Chicago, got to sing some of their work on Nov 17-18. More you might enjoy: Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins), Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), I Can't Make You Love Me (Bonnie Raitt), Hoist the Colours (Pirates of the Caribbean), Hellfire (Hunchback of Notre Dame), Little Mermaid (Disney), We're Good (Dua Lipa), Drunken Sailor, The Hall of the Mountain King (Edvard Grieg -1875.)

Ok, I almost didn’t click on your video because I thought it was another one that uses a cartoon or puppet instead of a real person. I’m glad I fast forwarded enough to see a real person reacting. 😅 I hope to see you react to more VoicePlay, they are the best at what they do!!

VoicePlay are superlative vocalists- to my mind, they represent the pinnacle of contemporary a cappella. Unlike the other two groups who are similarly talented, VoicePlay are not restricted by genre- Pentatonix tends to lean heavily into pop, while Home Free's identity is around being a country/Americana a cappalla group. But VoicePlay will (and does) perform everything from Disney to Metallica to Broadway to video game themes (their cover of the Halo Theme really must be heard; it's phenomenal) to classical pieces. And their videos are just as engaging as their music. VoicePlay are known as the Theatre Kids of a cappella music, because they not only love to sing but they love creating an engaging video (which they do themselves, nearly entirely. They are 100% independent, and they subcontract out very little of any production.) Geoff, the guy with the monster bass voice, is a fulltime member of VoicePlay, as is the equally talented vocal percussionist, Layne Stein; both were founding members of the group back in 1997. Cesar- guy on the escalator/staircase- is their most recent addition, and Eli (rhymes with 'jelly'; bald rock tenor who looks like he could throw down) has been with them for more than 10 years now. Anthony Garguila (gar-JOOL-uh) is their feature here; he has sung with them in several videos now.

Welcome to the wonderful world of VoicePlay Joel. The "Theater Kids" of the 3 big A Cappella groups are my favorite (all are great) but they always bring on the full "character" of what ever they are covering, so so very creative, Jeff Castellucci (bass singer) is brilliant at arranging a lot of their video shoots and has even done work for other groups as well and has several videos featuring himself that are quite brilliant as well. There is a whole world of great A Cappella music out there from these folks....dig in. 🥰🥰

Love VoicePlay and gave them the #TheatreKidsOfACapella four years ago. They cover everything from Metallica to Disney. The duct tape you see on the walls covers some let us say colorful language. Anthony is the young man in the front center. The bass Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci has his own channel and does his own LOW bass covers. VoicePlays' Valhalla Calling, Hoist The Colours, In The Air Tonight, Creep, Dream On, Nothing Else Matters.

Usually - not always - the featured singer is in the middle. Anthony was. He's sung with them several times - recently on Creep, which is a stunning cover. You're going to have lots of fun - these guys are amazing. Usually, who ever does the arrangement takes full responsibility for everything, in particular creative direction and editing the video. This one was Geoff Castellucci, the bass. Geoff doesn't usually repeat things, and I've wondered about that shot, too. My best guess is that he was trying to signal that this is a dead end fight that will constantly repeat itself, an endless loop, but it's only a guess. There were at least 2 other shots that had that feel too. They weren't identical, but it had the feeling of being something we'd already seen. I don't think it was a casual choice or mistake. Geoff and Layne (beatbox, the two each do about 50% of VP's performances) are both very obsessive about detail, and they consider each one of their video performances to be a piece of art. (liked/subscribed)

Something I particularly enjoy about this group is just how talented they are -- they take turns arranging the music themselves, and whichever one arranges the music goes on to be in charge of the production of the video, making decisions about what the set should look like, the costumes, right down in some cases to what sort of energy to bring to a particular line. They record a lot (maybe most) of their music at Layne's studio, Pattycake Productions, which is in the mall seen in a lot of their minis. Geoff, the bass singer, has his own channel where he records solo work (usually multiple tracks with himself) as well as reading out loud from such titles as Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven (ASMR, ladies? Yes, please!) and videos where he talks about the process of arranging the music, learning to sing the really deep notes, his wife's hearing loss... Lots of great content.

There's so much to say about Voiceplay... 🙂 As you seem to like rock 😁, there's a number of their tracks that you would surely like quite a lot. Metallica's "Nothing else matter", Aerosmith's "Dream on" (actually a "prequel" to this one, conceptually. They have a "post apocalyptic trilogy" of videos, beginning with Imagine Dragons' "Warriors", then "Dream on" then this one), Kansas' "Carry on wayward son", Phil Collins' "In the air tonight" (yes, THAT one 😉), and more. But they cover so many genres... Their Viking stuff ("My mother told me" and Miracle of Sound's "Valhalla calling") are just superb. And their videogame soundtrack stuff too... "Halo theme" was praised by the author himself, saying that theirs is the best version of it he has ever heard, INCLUDING his own. And "The Dragonborn comes - Skyrim" almost made me willing to begin gaming! 😅 Anyway. There's still much more, many more genres... Won't bother you all at once 😁. Subscribed in anticipation for more Voiceplay AND Geoff ("Jeff") Castellucci, the human subwoofer (or, as other reactors nicknamed him, "Foghorn Geoff"), who has a solo channel that's totally worth checking. 🙂 See you next time!

I have a suspicion this will be a very, very deep hole you will jump down, as my tastes and yours tend to run parallel. My three favorite musical bands/singers are Dimash, Nightwish, and Voiceplay. You've already hit the previous two (and I really like the deep dives you go into). Voiceplay is my favorite of the big 3 acapella groups (though the others are good in their own right). I like Voiceplay because they are really great singers, and arrangers and put on a theatrical show when they do their work. They also do their own arranging, background scenery (The Beat Boxer, Layne is co-owner of Pattycake studios), lighting, and FX (the rock tenor Elli does lighting) I doubt you'll be disappointed by any of their work, though you'll of course like some more than others. They have a huge catalog for you to explore, and when you are done (or feel like mixing it up), you can look into the bass singer of the group, Geoff Castelluci who along with Layne is one of the main arrangers of the group. He has his own channel, and you'll be surprised to see he has a 5-octave range (low bass to high baritone/tenor 2). You'll be able to go through dozens and dozens of videos to your heart's delight. Please do more, and I'll be and many others will be happily watching (and just like Dimash and Nightwish - who actually have a cross-over fan base)

Great reaction! And welcome to the VoicePlay rabbithole. Layne (the tall beatboxer you hoped is always there) is a founding member and is in just about every VoicePlay video ever released. So is Geoff, the subterranean bass singer, who has a whole channel full of incredible solo work too. Eli, the dude with the baseball bat and the rock god shriek, has been with them a long time. Cesar is their most recent full member--his stairway climb looked a little more repetitive than the others here for some reason, but he did walk a bit further up each time they cut to him, and each of the other guys was moving through pretty much the same area throughout, too. Their list of incredible performances is getting almost too long now to do a proper reclist, but just to name some of the relatively recent highlights--Hoist the Colours, We Don't Talk About Bruno, Nothing Else Matters, Valhalla Calling, Creep, In the Air Tonight, The Wellermen, and Drunken Sailor are all phenomenal. Liked and subscribed, looking forward to more!

I really enjoyed your reaction- thanks! I am a new subscriber looking forward to more reactions to Voice Play and bass singer, Geoff Castellucci, solo channel. As the other "Voice Players"(fans of Voice Play) have given you some great information and suggestions in the comments I will give a little more. They are one of the top three acapella groups but are different than the others as they are from Orlando Florida and the members and their frequently featured guests have worked as performers for Universal and/or Disney theme parks. They have more of a theatrical approach to acapella music and work without a record label or contract by choice so they have complete control of their creative expression. All of their stuff is great but for you I would recommend some of their rock covers to start- "Nothing Else Matters", "Whiskey In The Jar", "Dream On", "Carry On My Wayward Son", and "In The Air Tonight".

And their Imagine Dragons covers! “Warriors” and “Enemy”, too! “Warriors” is one of the exceptionally few times they use an instrument (only twice I can think of). And on this song the only sound that didn’t start from their voices was the metal bat drag on the floor. And yes they are capable of those synth-like sounds. They have done them in the past. Although these might have had some extra post-production.

When you told us, you couldn’t compare the original to VP´s version, I paused your video and listened to it first. I had to listen to it again afterwards because the end was somehow very different, and I wanted to know if I was right. After he sings: and the stains coming from my blood, tell me go back home” for me totally surprising, the song ends. I could do with an instrumental of the Original. The singers Voice is not to my taste. This has proven again, that I had the right version all along. 🤩 Thank you very much for reacting to VoicePlay´s Version and being so nice. 🌹 BTW Your Outro is FUN!🤣 I did subscribe and like. Who could deny the cute animated you?
