I was pleasantly surprised to see that you were going to react to this particular song. Mainly because it is not that well known and very few people react to it. This song was recorded by Joey, the lady who sang it in this video, because she was touched by it. A friend of hers wrote it and so she wanted to do this video to honor her. Her friend is actually the one who is playing the piano in the video. Anyway, Joey and her husband Rory (her true husband who is actually the man in the video doing the crying and grieving) used to be a Christian country duo and sang many excellent numbers together. You can find their work online all over the web if you search for it. So after recording this at some point in 2012 Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Unfortunately she lost her battle and passed away in 2016, leaving behind her husband and her daughter as well as this video. It's kind of ironically eerie, she (and he) made this video not knowing what would happen. It's like God made this for her and her husband so that she could leave a special memory behind for him because He (God) knew how heartbroken Rory would be, and he definitely was. This adds such a sad dimension to this song and yet a hopeful one as well. I cannot hear the song without breaking down into tears and I am not a particularly emotional man. Joey wrote a song about losing her brother in a car accident several years ago. He had left to go somewhere but was supposed to meet up with the family later. It might have been his graduation, but I’m not sure. Anyway, the last thing he told the family was “See you there,” and they came up on the accident on the way to meet him. It’s another song that will rip out your heart, but it’s a beautiful song.

I knew of these artists and saw them on TV. I remember her diagnosis, and seeing her at the award shows without her hair. But never listened to them until about a year ago, when I decided to listen to this one. And with me knowing of her passing, this song absolutely wrecked me.. Couldn't think of nothing else and was silent that whole day. Maybe other had already expressed this, but the woman on the piano wrote the song. I believe the timeline is that Joey recorded this 2 years before having her child. And then she got diagnosed, or passed about 2 years after having her child. So the song, and visuals of her husband visiting the grave on the property are pretty eerie and prophetic.. She was buried on their property.

Sandy Lawrence, had written the song for her dying mother as a way to cope with her emotions. "Our hope was that the song's message might help someone who is in the midst of losing someone they love," Rory shared. It was suggested that Joey sing it as if she was the one dying. They wanted her to sing the song to Rory, but he wasn't a fan of that idea. He felt it hit too close too home. In the end, Rory realized that vision was what was right for the song, so that's how they shot it. Rory reminisced, saying, "... so the cameras rolled and both Joey and I let us ourselves imagine what it would be like if she had to leave this world and I was left behind without her..." A couple years later, the song took on a very personal meaning.

My friend just passed away last wesday I’m crying I miss her

I heard Rory was actually going to be singing this song but the writer of the song wanted Joey to sing it. I watched their blog almost daily while Joey was dying of cervical cancer that was found soon after she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. It was a very sad day when she left this world.
