What program is used for the robot to select it's moves? Stockfish or something else? Also does that program allow it to be played at various settings?

How does the robot choose the right piece to put on the chess board in case of promotion?

At the moment the robot isn't able to physically promote a piece. It simply places the pawn in the last row and the human player needs to look at the status screen to see what the robot wants to promote it to. This is definitely something I could improve. Ideally the robot could speak to you and tell which piece to promote it to, or even better, pick a piece and do the promotion itself.

What the degree of speedup of the video vs. real time? Thanks!

It varies per shot, but on average the speedup was about 12x. The robot moves the pieces much slower in person (~30 seconds for a full move). I will probably increase the speed of the servos a bit, but wanted to get everything else working well before making that a priority.
