The Johan Sverdrup Phase 2 came on stream 15 December. The field is now complete with five platforms and will produce high value barrels of oil with low carbon emissions for 50 years.
The 25 000 tonne fifth platform was constructed in three modules in Norway, Thailand and Spain and mated quayside by #Sleipnir and installed in one single lift by #PioneeringSpirit.
Once the field produces at peak early 2023 almost every third oil barrel from the Norwegian Continental Shelf will be produced at Johan Sverdrup.
The giant oil field in the Norwegian North Sea is crucial for high and stabile energy deliveries from Norway. Plateau production from Johan Sverdrup is expected to be 720 000 barrels per day with an ambition to increase to 755 000.
