You can apply for an OCI card, you are almost like an Indian citizen, u can work and live for ever in India. No need to give up your Finnish passport.

Thank you so much for this video! I am an American citizen living in America. I traveled to India on December 28th, 2019 and spent 5 1/2 weeks there. I married my sweet husband and then returned to America just as Covid was really starting and started the process to get a spousal visa for my husband to come to America. In September 2020, the US National Visa center informed us that we were missing on crucial marriage document. To get this document I need to go back to India for at least 30 days. I have been trying to get information about what I need to do to be allowed to enter the country again and have been getting absolutely nowhere. It is so frustrating! I am so happy for you that you got your "spousal" visa and that you are able to be with your husband in India! That is wonderful!

I enjoy your videos. I’m a US citizen son of Indian immigrants. My parents have been in the US for over 50 years, and they visit India often. They eventually became US citizens and got OCI cards. I got one too. I’m not interested in living in India, but it’s great that I don’t have the hassle of dealing with the Indian embassy every time I go to India.

Govt should make a bit liberal less cumbersome system in granting VISA to nationals from friendly and peaceful countries specially, from those countries who have very high passport rating , but without compromising national security and international laws. Of course VISA system for non friendly countries and having poor records in combating terrorism, must be made so difficult so that getting VISA is almost impossible for nationals from these countries. People like Johanna must always be welcomed in India with global outlook.

As the wife of an Indian citizen you are entitled to an OCI card without giving up your Finnish citizenship. Anything else you've been told is wrong. That gives you full residency and property ownership rights and visa-free entry and no requirements for foreigner registration, etc.

As I know, the Indian Visa system is basically reciprocal. Means if an X country does ask for certain requirements to issue a visa for Indian citizen, the same applies to the citizen of X country to obtain Indian Visa.

hi,congratulations for the long term visa! i am new to this topic as i have recently got married (in april 2022). after that we applied at E-FRRO for my wife's spouse visa and uploaded all the documents/proofs asked by FRRO website. After waiting for 1-2 months,we got stay visa (for 3months) instead of a long term visa / x1 visa. Now we should apply for conversion of this visa to x1 visa? Can you guide please,it will be a great help for us.

India visa system recently moved to more reciprocating system with all countries .... Japan Korea offering some relaxation for schengen visa holder Indian citizens and hence India gave advantage to them

Hello Johanna. Congratulations with your spouse visa, or visa X. Yes, the rules and application forms keep changing for visas in India. I am an Indian man with O.C. I card living in Belgium. I think I got my O.C.I card in 2012. Because I have Belgian passport, I had to surrender my Indian passport, when applying for O.C.I. They give you a " Surrender Certificate" which is very important to keep carefully. Better take few copies of it, while O.C.I holder travel to and fro from India. At the age of 50 you have to re-new your O.C.I with your latest photo. Not many people know it. Yes, with O.C.I you are much more free to live and work in India, or Finland. Visa processing is now done by an external company. So for tourist or any kind of visa you dont have to go to the Embassy of India. The Embassy of India, here is Brussels have been okay ( at least I didnt have negative experiance with them), some of them very helpful. . But the bureaucracy and the paper works and delays are till there. I wish they could make Visa procedure bit more simple. I wonder what is an Entry Visa?! Cheers from Belgium
