This is awesome. I love how these projects bring families together. I grew up building things, doing fun artistic projects, and constantly being outside by the railroad tracks behind my childhood home. My husband's uncle sells train parts for the huge railroads around the world. It's quite interesting to learn about. I don't have a big railroad setup, but I do make smaller diorama styles. My 9 year old daughter is on the spectrum and I homeschool her. You'd be surprised how much I can incorporate learning into building these dioramas. Math, reading, story telling, science, history, writing (which she USED TO have a problem doing due to the muscles in her hand needing to be worked on - after starting our little dioramas, one day she was able to write without needing her special pencil grips!), and obviously art! It keeps us busy and is a great learning tool, especially for a child with special needs. It has helped her work through her sensory issues, mainly when it comes to textures. She still has sensory sensitivities, but they have improved so much. It's awesome to make this kind of thing a family affair. We live off my husbands income due to my health problems, so we've had to be pretty resourceful and it's impressive what you can do with a little bit of imagination and very little money! Okay, my comment is long enough 😂 I just love how this hobby brings family together 😊

Magnificent layout. Very cool transitions from the 3D model towards the backdrop. Love John Bacon’s narration and especially his story on sharing and building the layout for his grandkids.

Great layout John. I'm a big fan of the C&TS/D&RGW and have visited Chama frequently. BTW, #464 now resides in Flint, MI at the Huckleberry Railroad.

One thing I especially like is the ballast that you used. 13:25 Please explain. Is the design 100 percent arround the room? Very nice layout.
