The melody is pure 1970s John Barry, catchy swirling haunting string melody repeating in slightly different forms, each song never lasting more than 2-3 minutes. I have never seen the film but came across "Follow Follow" on a vinyl album of easy listening tracks from the early 70s in my parent's record collection. The orchestral only version of the Main "Follow Me" theme is called "Follow Follow" and appears in the middle of the album. This is the original version of the track I remember on viynl, and is very remincent of his music for the TV show "The Persuaders" and seems too melancholly to feature in a film that was essentially a romantic comedy. I can find little about the 1972 film which starred Mia Farrow, Topol and Michael Jayston, other than it was director Carol Reed's last film. It is probably very much of it's time judging by the album cover artwork.
If you are a fan of John Barry's film music, this is definately worth getting as it is not on any of the greatest/very best of type compilations. Once heard the often repeated melody will stay with you for a long time - amazon review
