Ex-Commons speaker John Bercow has told LBC he "absolutely denies" claims he bullied his colleagues, insisting he is a "warm, empathetic, principled and passionate person".
Speaking to Iain Dale on LBC, Mr Bercow said he had "fantastic" relations with most of his colleagues after a damning report found he is a "serial bully" who should have been "expelled" if he was still an MP.
The damning conclusions were upheld by an Independent Expert Panel following an investigation by the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner.
It has been recommended he should lose his parliamentary pass - and Labour has reportedly suspended him. Although he was a Tory before becoming speaker, he announced he had joined Sir Keir Starmer's party last year.

Because Labour holds their most of their MP’s accountable much more often than the Conservatives. Conservatives will continue to lie, bully and break the rules and get away with it because they aren’t held accountable by the press or the opposition. However if Labour are caught doing anything it’s a full on attack even if it’s not even true.

Yeah, came here to say something similar. No matter how factual his points may (or may not) be, he's got a strong defensive and dismissive front and cares little for how that comes across. I liked him from what I saw if him in parliament but it's hard to take his side when his attitude is like this. I get that, from his perspective, he's being attacked and defamed, but I don't think he sees the other perspective around how his behaviour and personality lands with others.

@@mitchell4431 It's a fair question. However, what is suspicious to me, they have to go back 12 years to find this stuff (so nothing recent) and as soon as his case is finished, the govt change the rules so no one can bring further cases that are more than 12 months old. I guess the rationale behind this, is that any evidence in support of older cases is often considered unreliable because of the passage of time. So why then does this rationale not apply to Bercow's case? The other thing is the timing of the rule change, it comes across as a bit suspicious, don't you think? There are also allegations by Mr Bercow that testimony given in support of Mr Bercow was ignored. If true, I think there is more to this case, than meets the eye. The issue with Bercow is that he has no softness, he is always right, there is no contrition, he is conceited, so regardless of the truth, he paints himself as unlikeable, what I see here, is that everyone save for Bercow has a bad memory, unlike 'Mr Perfect,' whose memory seems, prima facie, to be crystal clear. There is an awful lot of smoke, if, as Bercow claims, there is no sign of a fire. I note when he is under pressure, as he is here, he points with his finger, that is the trait of a man on the edge of trying to control his temper, whenever anyone points at me, I curtail the interface there and then, it is an unacceptable way to conduct a conversation.
