It's been 40 years since he died, and yet his grave shows signs that it is regularly visited. It shows how respected he was in life, and how his influence carries on after his death. Legend.

John Bonham was a petrolhead (see the concert movie The Song Remains the Same for examples) hence the toy cars on his headstone. I think he found being away from his family for a long time due to touring hard to deal with and resorted to alcohol to help him cope. Incredible that people are leaving graveside tributes for someone who passed away over 40 years ago. Well worth listening to some Led Zeppelin songs to discover Bonham's versatility.

Yes. There was and is no one like him. Some of the drumming was so incredible that he blew everyone away. Pity he did not get help for his nerves and depression which led him drinking too much and dying. A true Great.

A Wonderful Tribute to him. John Bonham was my brothers (Joe Futej) drumming mentor (Buddy Rich as well)!! My little brother passed away June 28th, 2022 at the age of 58 (Stage 4 lung cancer). He always use to say John B. was the man! No one could beat him or the band. I would love to think that he was finally able to meet the man, and they are now playing drums together in Heaven. The man whom he learned so much of his drumming skills from. Thank you for sharing this video. Have a lovely day.

An incredibly talented drummer! As some have said the greatest drummer ever. My dad bought the first Led Zeppelin album, and the power this man had in playing the drums was amazing to hear. I had just left school, and heard the news, what a shock it was, and then of course John Lennon being murdered in December of that year. R.I.P. to them both.

I took my son to the grave site many years ago, when he started playing drums and became a Zep fan from listening to my vinyl collection. He would have been about 14 then. He's in his 30's now. We live fairly close to the cemetery. What I only realised when I saw the gravestone that day was it was the 25th of September. Such an influence on my sons drumming style to this day.

Definitely my favourite and so glad my dad brought me up listening to them and has given his vinyl to enjoy for many years to come! Tragic how he passed away and as sad as it was led zeppelin chose to no longer carry on, it was a mark of respect to Jon and his family.

Aside from being a great drummer, John Bonham was a gear head who loved his cars, which is why you see all the cars on top off his grave. That white covered truck on his grave resembles the one he drove in the movie. Greatest rock drummer ever, IMO.

I've read that on the previous day Bonham had been helping his folks move into a cottage on his farm. He loved his family and the idea of going on another tour and the separation from loved ones that it caused upset him greatly and he almost wanted to quit-but he always put the band first. He was the only Zep member that went to Robert's son's funeral and helped Robert through the ordeal. He was also the one that prodded Robert back into rehearsals and the studio to record 'In Through The Out Door' feeling the work would be good for Robert. The reason for the toy cars on his headstone is that Bonham was a bonified gearhead that LOVED fast cars. I'd like to see another great drummer's grave-Cozy Powell. He was every bit the crazy drummer Bonham was and was potentially a candidate to drum for a Zep reunion. Sadly he loved fast cars also dying in a car wreck much too young. It's perhaps morbid but fitting for Cozy in that his last words on an early car phone were "Oh sh@t!!!" immediately preceding the accident which killed him.

Led Zeppelin will never be forgotten along with all the band members. John Bonham is probably the best drummer ever and taken early due to severe alcoholism. Such a huge loss of natural talent. The first original drummer of Led Zep, was a guy from Harrow called Mac Poole, sadly no longer with us, who left the band just before Led Zep hit the big time. Mac was tired of all the travelling to and from gigs, and decided to settle down instead. Then came along John Bonham. Mac kept in touch with a lot of the lads from his past, who were in other groups. One such person to attend Mac’s funeral at Ruislip crematorium, was Rick Wakeman. Mac himself continued to play in several bands up until his passing. 🙏🏼

Extremely entertaining and informative video about one of our greatest ever drummers, Paul. I visited Bonham's grave there at Rushock churchyard just a couple of days before you; signed the visitors' book, too. Met the same horses. Bonham lived in the area, close to where he was born, and helped finance the restoration of many old buildings around his final resting place. I was struck by the beautiful tranquility, remoteness and birdsong of this wonderful churchyard, a far cry from the thumping rhythms of his performances at packed stadia worldwide.

Being a long time Led Zep fan I found this very interesting if not a little sad. Possibly the greatest rock drummer ever. John Bonham was into classic cars and speed. Total adrenaline man, passionate about life and music and the drums. He drove a vehicle like the white one on his tombstone in the film, The Song Remains The Same. He also loved his motorcycle that he would ride in the hallways in the hotels they stayed at before they got their plane. John was also pulled over for racing up and down Rodeo Drive. There were at least 7 policeman there. He had the hood open on his fast trans am with a high rise motor coming through the hood. He was pointing out the supercharger, carborator and everything that made the car fast. He asked all the officers if the had tickets for their show. He gave them all tons of tickets for their concert. The good old days. Great drummer, father, husband, bandmate and passionate individual. He loved his son, Jason, his wife and all the fans.

I was 10 years old when John Bonham passed away. I will forever be reminded of September 25th 1980 it was the day I turned 10. I was already a fan of Zeppelin because of my older brother's. I remember watching the news it was the last story reported on. I'm now 52, and still believe Zeppelin are the greatest rock band. IMO Zeppelin were the first band to showcase each band members skill. Bonham is the reason I took up drumming, they have remained a constant in my life, and always will. Sadly 3 months later John Lennon was senselessly murdered. God bless John Bonham and John Lennon

Bonzo is a legend. I took my daughter to Kidderminster for a couple of nights on 9th May for her 16th birthday (she's a big Zep fan) and we visited John's grave on 10th, so, just a couple of days before you were there. I wish I could show you the photo I took in my kitchen before we went of what we wanted to leave at his resting place, because we left the framed print of him with the love heart which is featured on your video. We also left a small bottle of vodka next to the photo and that wasn't there when you filmed. Tut. We also left a pair of drum sticks at the far left of the stone, out of the way of the rest, and they're gone, or, have been put in with the others. (We also went to the home of his birth place, his bronze memorial in Redditch town centre, and Robert Plant's childhood home.) We also signed the book in the church as we had travelled from North Norfolk. And we had a word with the horses :) Thank you for visiting and sharing your film. It's a beautiful and very peaceful place, not easy to find, and it's no surprise his family wanted John to be rested there x

Thank you Paul once again a great video. It did seem very peaceful there and I think it’s the beautiful church that John is near. It’s so beautiful there, the countryside and the birds singing. He died in 1980 I don’t really remember him much, now I will because you showed us his place of rest and the story behind him. Take care and I’ll see you again. (Jennifer). ❤

Got to see Zeppelin twice, 75 and 77 at Tarrant County Convention Center in Fort Worth Texas. What a shock when I heard the sad news of Bonzo's passing 😢

Great posting Paul. Having lived in Worcester previously for 25 years I've visited his grave on several occasions. A very quaint, quiet English churchyard the opposite of how he lived his life. His home is nearby with a row of conifers lining the driveway. There is also a blue plaque at the home which coincides with a visit by Jimmy Hendrix to his home. Incredible drummer who played on some incredible songs. Robert Plant lives not too far away either
