The sad thing is, they cut off the ending of this video. I saw it on MTV back in the day, and at the end, the piano player trails off, then takes the cigarette out of his mouth and blows a cloud of smoke out. That one gesture manages to capture all the nostalgia, regret over lost youth and innocence, the bittersweet feeling of an adult looking back on youth that this song is all about.

I used to watch this movie with my dad and uncle. I have been playing music for 20 years. Looking back, I think Eddie and the cruisers inspired me to play music and pick up a guitar. I miss you, Dad and Uncle Brian life sure goes by quickly. I have to say that's one of the best damn saxophone solos I've ever heard every note I can feel in my soul, and my heart hurts, but I can't help but listen again and again.

Takes me back to 5th grade. 1985. We rented a vhs player and this movie. Lived in a small idaho town. Carefree days. This music just takes me back. Miss those “tender years “

I had a business and lived in Key West from 1993 - 2006 The Conch Republic Seafood Company, right next to Key West Bight at the end of Greene St, booked The Beaver Brown Band one weekend night. My employees and I thought it was Christmas!!!! At no point were there more that 20 people in the bar that evening though.....? I stayed, as they played all night, several sets, and no cover charge. Duval Street however, was packed with Tourons watching yet another guitar player bang out endless Jimmy Buffet songs, whilst 20 or so of us, enjoyed a treat of a lifetime a few hundred yards away. A great band, with great songs!

At least they give John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band credit for this song. It definitely is a underrated song but so is John and his band Very good stuff!

Haunting song. My wife and I put Tender Years on our wedding video from 1985. We just saw JC&BBBand two weeks ago at the Coach House in Ca. Same original members, better than 40 years ago. Best small venue concert ever.

Growing up in RI and seeing him on the beach chillin at Roy Carpenters Beach where he owns a cottage and I spent many summers as a teen in the 80's at the same beach and my grandparents owing a cottage was awesome. He plays locally all the time. Amazing song!
