Thank you so much for this documentary. I really loved it! John Candy is one of my absolute favourite actors. I agree with every word about him in this video. The great thing about John was that he always brought a piece of himself into every character. It was as if he was playing the different persons, should he've become them in real life. He was so special and as you said, he is sorely missed.

I've been thinking of doing something like this myself on and must say LOVED this. Generations are being born who don't know who John Candy is and his legacy must be perpetuated because if you have a child and want to show them a great role model then you can show them John Candy. Still not heard one bad word against that man

"According to Eugene Levy, John Candy was so beloved that when the procession was heading to the cemetery where John was interred, he looked over and saw that there was no traffic on the 405 Freeway and that police officers were stationed at the on-ramps holding traffic. When he asked a police officer what was going on, he was informed that the decision to stop traffic was up to the LAPD. Further, the only other times they stopped traffic was for Presidential motorcades and when the Pope visited Los Angeles."

Uncle Buck is still one of my favorite all time films. Every single moment from that film is immensely memorable and timeless. Along with Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, any film with Candy in it was, and still is, a gem. Even if it was just a cameo, he lit up the screen with his presence.

I think the title nailed it, he felt like Everybody's Uncle. Or at least mine. I was growing up at a time as his movie career evolved from sidekick to more of a lead and loved them all. He was funny, that warmth, smile and twinkle in the eye felt genuine. And that dramatic scene in front of the committee in Cool Runnings always gets me. He freaking nailed that one. Live abroad, so no US cable, but still occasionally search John Candy on Netflix or whatever and if one of his pops up, we watch. Watched "Great Outdoors" (again) just last week. Thanks for this.

It might sound odd, but I actually think Wagons East WAS a fitting final role, in that it was John working on a film he knew wasn't the greatest, and that he was contractually obligated to star in it, but he went out doing what he did best: giving his all and doing the absolute best he could for the role, the only way he knew how to be. He gave what many consider a subjectively terrible movie something to enjoy, and his performance in it was one of the few truly bright spots of Wagons East. That was John, doing what he did best. I don't think you could find an actor or celebrity that was more genuine, compassionate, humble, down to earth, generous, professional, or loved for just being himself. To me, there are NO bad films with John Candy in them, simply because a film with John ALWAYS had something to enjoy. Loved the video and RIP John Candy, forever missed. 😢

I have to agree with the assessment of Candy and Hanks being paired. "Splash" was great; however, "Volunteers" gave the pair more time to interact with each other as opposed to the aforementioned "Splash" which was focused on Hanks and Hannah's love story, so there is not as much Hanks and Candy. Of course, the few moments they are together (in "Splash") are priceless. Additionally, even in "Splash" Candy has a moment to be deeply, emotionally sincere when he's telling his brother (Hanks) about the rarity of love.
