I met John Cena at a gym. A few friends and I spotted him at the gym and we wanted to say "Hi" and maybe get a group picture. He told us he had just wrestled (Sunday night ) and this was his free time on Monday and just wanted to do a quick workout before traveling. He wasn't yelling or mean or anything but you can hear in in voice he didn't want to be disturbed, which we got, but it would have been cool if he took 30 seconds to take a picture with us and continue working out than the 30 seconds it took him to explain why not.

John Cena has always been my role model. He accepts his flaws, failures and fallacies with such grace that nobody else can. That's why he became a superstar from a jobber(with no future) almost instantly in WWE. They never gave him a push. They gave him space to be creative and he accomplished everything on his own. This guy carried wrestling business on his shoulders when all big names had left. He gave legacy matches with his contemporaries like Orton, Edge, HHH, late Wyatt, Batista, Punk and also with a veteran like Michaels. In his last 5 years of tenure he has just been giving back to this business with open and selfless heart to make room for young talents to take over and maintain the legacy of WWE. For almost 20 years he has been there consistent despite all odds, hatred, and injuries. Some might consider Austin, Hogan, The Rock and Michaels as Mt. Rushmore of this business but John Cena will always remain the *greatest of all time.*

I'm not going to sit here and slander Cena, because he will go down as one of WWE's greatest wrestlers. But he's not the greatest of all-time. Cena is awesome. I got into wrestling in late 1999, I remember watching his debut on the premiere of that Smackdown episode when he confronted Cena. I remember him introducing the rapping gimmick for the first time- I witnessed everything of Cena’s. Admittedly, I never hated nor disliked Cena but I wasn’t a fan of his as of 2007. Cena attracted many younger fans and that is what the company needed at the time. The kids that followed the WWE during Cena’s tenure are now the adults that buy the shirts, collect the figures (it’s mostly adult collectors buying the toys than the kids these days since kids are no longer into toys), they’re attending the shows live and they’re paying to watch wrestling on TV. WWE is mostly attracting adults but I hope they can start to attract more kids or younger fans so they too will grow up as the business progresses. Most of us got into wrestling as kids.
