John Cena (@johncena) is an actor and professional wrestler known for being a 16-time World Champion in WWE. He sits down with Chris Van Vliet in Hollywood, CA to talk about his new comedy "Ricky Stanicky" that he stars in with Zac Efron and Andrew Santino on Amazon Prime, what he thought of Zac Efron's wrestling skills in "The Iron Claw", what he said to MJF when they met at the premiere for The Iron Claw, his approach to making movies now compared to when he made "The Marine" 20 years ago, his recent WWE return, fans singing his theme song instead of singing "John Cena sucks", his detailed plans to turn heel for his match against The Rock in 2012, his favorite Championship win, how much longer he thinks he can wrestle for, why the phrase "control the controllable" is so powerful for him, what his match with Bray Wyatt would have looked like at WrestleMania 36 if there had been a crowd, how he recovered from his torn pec so quickly in 2008, his favorite lyric from "Basic Thugonomics", three things he is grateful for and much more!

I think for me at least, and I say this as someone who definitely rooted against Cena in the past, Cena kind of represents the era of wrestling I grew up with and as I get older, I get more nostalgic for late 2000's WWE. He's undoubtedly the face of that era. I kind of teared up a little during his Mania match with Theory when he went for the 5 knuckle shuffle and took a moment to acknowledge the crowd. It's hard to explain other than to just say pure nostalgia for the good old days. Even though I think the current product is way better than PG era WWE.

Dude i put on this interview "just to start it" while i did before bed chores, an hour and 16 minutes later well past my time im finishing it up. Chris I gotta say this might actually be your best one yet. You deserve every accolade but thank you for your hard ass work. Your questions, your presence, how you listen and let the answers breathe and guide the course of the whole thing. You and Sean Evans are in my opinion the best interviewers going right now.

Cena talking about how much the fans perspective means to him, says a lot for me. I got to watch him live in a dark match as a kid in 2011 for a SmackDown taping and I will never forget that moment of finding out Cena was there. It was a great moment for me in my wrestling fandom. He doesn’t even know me, but it means a lot to have that mentality, because of the effect you leave on someone.
